Sochi 2014: Womens Results Classification Games

7th Place: Germany v Japan 3-2 - Susann Gotz had a goal and an assist to lead Germany to a 3-2 victory over Japan on Tuesday in the Olympic women's hockey seventh-place game. Viona Harrer made 27 saves for German, which beat last-place Japan for the second time in the Sochi Games. Nana Fujimoto made 11 saves for Japan on 14 shots before she was replaced in the second period by Akane Konishi. Haruna Yoneyama and Hanae Kubo scored for Japan, which has never won a game in its Olympic history. This was the first time the Japanese had quailed for the Olympic women's hockey tournament. They also received an automatic berth into the 1998 Nagano Games as the host nation.

5th Place: Finland v Russia 4-0 - Noora Raty stopped 18 shots in her Olympic finale and Michelle Karvinen scored twice to lead Finland to a 4-0 victory over Russia on Tuesday in the women's hockey fifth-place game. Raty started with the Finnish national team when she was 15 and won two NCAA championships at Minnesota. She has said she will retire from the national team after the Sochi Games. Anna Prugova made 21 saves for Russia. The hosts had hoped the home-ice advantage would propel them to a spot in the medal round. But after finishing atop Group B, they lost to Switzerland in the quarterfinals. Linda Valimaki and Rikka Valila scored 51 seconds apart to break a scoreless tie late in the first period. Karvinen's goals came 61 seconds apart in the third.
