Florida @ Philadelphia 2-1 SO - Dave Bolland scored the winning goal in the sixth round of the tiebreaker to help the Panthers defeat the Flyers 2-1 at Wells Fargo Center. Brandon Pirri also scored in the shootout. Bolland came down the middle of the ice, slowed up in the slot and sent a low wrist shot past Flyers goalie Steve Mason. The Flyers' Sean Couturier had a chance to extend the shootout, but on his attempt the puck rolled off his stick before he could get a shot off. Upshall's goal at 9:37 of the first gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead, and the Flyers tied the game on Voracek's one-timer at 4:07 of the second. After a scoreless third period, the Flyers had the better of the play in overtime. They outshot the Panthers 4-2, but Luongo made three key saves to keep Florida in the game. He got a piece of Mark Streit's shot with his glove with 1:37 left and gloved a Matt Read slap shot with 41.2 seconds remaining. Then with 14.3 seconds remaining, he did the splits to glove aside Andrew MacDonald's shot off a 4-on-2 Philadelphia rush.
Toronto @ Carolina 1-4 - The Hurricanes scored 11:54 into the game. Eric Staal worked the puck from behind the Toronto net to the left faceoff circle, where he passed to Terry at the top of the crease for his fifth goal of the season. Nathan Gerbe set up Staal by cycling the puck in the corner to earn the second assist. With Zach Boychuk in the box for interference, the Hurricanes scored shorthanded for a 2-0 lead at 13:43. Patrick Dwyer raced up the ice on a 2-on-1 and delivered a perfect pass to Faulk, who finished from the right circle for the defenseman's second shorthanded goal of the season. The Maple Leafs began to sustain some offensive pressure midway through the second period before cutting Carolina's lead to 2-1 with 3:05 remaining. With David Clarkson and Daniel Winnik providing traffic in front of the net, Dion Phaneuf's slap shot beat Ward for his second of the season. Peter Holland set up the goal with a cross-ice pass to Phaneuf. The Hurricanes extended the lead to 3-1 on Andrej Sekera's first goal of the season 11:05 into the third period. On an abbreviated power play following a Cody Franson interference penalty, Sekera patiently held the puck before sending a wrist shot high over Jonathan Bernier's glove. A few hours before the game, the Hurricanes traded defenseman Jay Harrison to the Winnipeg Jets for a sixth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. Harrison, a popular presence in the Carolina locker room, played 317 games over six seasons.
Washington @ Columbus 5-4 OT - Eric Fehr scored 42 seconds into overtime to give the Capitals a 5-4 victory. Washington blew a 2-0 first-period lead and twice tied the score in the third period. Forward Troy Brouwer scored with three minutes remaining in regulation. Defenseman Mike Green assisted on the final two goals. Brouwer scored to make it 4-4 less than two minutes after Columbus rookie center Michael Chaput scored his first NHL goal in his 27th game.
Columbus forward Nick Foligno had two goals and assist, including his 100th NHL goal, and defenseman Jack Johnson had a goal. Brouwer's 10th goal went in off his left skate after a centering pass from Green. The play was reviewed and the goal was upheld because Brouwer did not make a distinct kicking motion. Ward scored his 10th on a wrist shot from the right dot past the stick of Sergei Bobrovsky (31 saves) midway through the first. Chimera, a former Blue Jackets player, made it 2-0 with 38 seconds left in the first period for his third goal. Johnson and Foligno scored power-play goals for the Blue Jackets 3:09 apart in the second period to tie the game 2-2. Foligno's goal to make it 3-2 came 52 seconds into third period but Alzner tied the score with 12:58 left in regulation. The Blue Jackets took the lead again after Chaput's goal with 4:24 remaining in the third period, but Brouwer responded.

Anaheim @ Montreal 2-1 - Matt Beleskey scored 8:33 into the third period to give Anaheim a 2-1 win. Beleskey took a pass from Rickard Rakell and beat Canadiens goalie Carey Price with a quick wrist shot to restore the Sucks' one-goal lead 3:06 after Montreal had tied it. David Desharnais drew Montreal even at 1-1 with a power-play goal at 5:27 of the third period. The Canadiens honored Koivu, their longtime captain, during a pregame ceremony. Koivu spent his first 13 NHL seasons with Montreal from 1995-2009. He retired Sept. 10 after five seasons with Anaheim. Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf, Koivu's teammate for the past five seasons, got his team-leading 25th assist and 35th point when he set up Lindholm's fourth goal at 8:16 of the first. Getzlaf controlled the puck after winning a faceoff against Manny Malhotra in Montreal's zone. He passed to the left point, where Lindholm one-timed a slap shot past Price into the top left corner. Canadiens left wing Max Pacioretty left the game at 4:04 of the third. Pacioretty, who leads Montreal with 13 goals and 25 points, went to the dressing room after he fell headfirst into the boards following a hit by Anaheim defenseman Clayton Stoner. Sucks forward Patrick Maroon was penalized for interference at 4:40, and Montreal tied the game on the power play. Desharnais scored his fourth goal when he one-timed a slap shot past Andersen from the right side to finish a passing play with Andrei Markov and Alex Galchenyuk.
