New Jersey @ Toronto 1-2 SO - Phil Kessel scored a spectacular third-period goal and James van Riemsdyk had the only goal in the shootout to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 2-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils on Friday night. The game was scoreless through 48 minutes before Kessel's highlight-reel goal. He took a pass from defenseman Cody Franson inside his own zone, raced through center ice and into the New Jersey zone before splitting the defense and putting the puck past Cory Schneider at 8:12 for his 10th goal of the season. New Jersey tied the game with 4:45 left in regulation on a power-play goal that was nowhere near as spectacular as Kessel's. Michael Ryder shot from the right wing and Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier couldn't get his stick down to stop it. Instead, the puck rode up the stick, over his shoulder and into the net. Ryder's fifth goal of the season sent the game to overtime. In the extra period, Ryder nearly ended the game after weaving through the Maple Leafs defense and breaking in 1-on-1 against Bernier, who smothered his backhand attempt. Van Riemsdyk scored in the third round of the shootout and Bernier stopped all three New Jersey shooters.

Nashville @ Winnipeg 0-5 - Bryan Little scored twice and leads the Jets with 10 goals, putting him in a four-way tie for third in the League. Ladd and Blake Wheeler each had two assists. Winnipeg owned a 3-0 lead on eight shots by 8:23 of the first period. Little scored the Jets' first goal of the night at 3:04 before Olli Jokinen had his third of the season at 6:47, breaking a nine-game drought. Eric Tangradi scored his first goal of the season, and Devin Setoguchi welcomed Marek Mazanec, Hutton's replacement, by scoring his fourth of the season at 16:45. Little added his second of the night midway through the third period. The Jets feasted on the Predators from the start. Little scored on the Jets' third shot of the game, working the puck loose before releasing a shot that slipped through Hutton. Jokinen made it 2-0 when he took Evander Kane's centering pass from the right circle and redirected a shot past Hutton. Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien helped end Hutton's night when he took a cross-ice pass from Grant Clitsome and drove a rising left-point shot that Tangradi tipped through Hutton's pads. Jokinen set up the fourth goal when he won a left-circle draw and shuffled the puck to the slot, where Setoguchi deposited it past Mazanec. Little close the scoring when he picked up the rebound of Wheeler's right-side shot and beat Mazanec under the crossbar at 9:53.

Calgary @ Colorado 2-4 - Matt Duchene scored into an empty net with 1.9 seconds to play in the third period to secure the Avalanche's 13th win in 15 games. The Avalanche built leads of 2-0 and 3-1, but the Flames kept coming back and were within 3-2 on two goals by Mike Cammalleri. The Avalanche killed off a Paul Stastny holding penalty that began with 35 seconds remaining in the second period and carried into the third. Giguere made 10 third-period saves, and his teammates blocked six shots to prevent the Flames from tying the score as they buzzed around his net. Nathan MacKinnon skated out of the right corner, curled into the faceoff circle and passed to Mitchell above the right hash marks for a shot that sailed by goalie Karri Ramo's glove. Cammalleri made it 3-2 at 9:46 with his fourth goal in four games. Hudler got Mikael Backlund's pass behind the Avalanche net, moved to the right side and slipped the puck to Cammalleri for a chip shot behind Giguere. Cammalleri nearly scored again at 17:37 from in close after he received a pass from Hudler, but Giguere came up with a big stop. Ryan O'Reilly opened the scoring for the Avalanche at 5:31 of the first period with a one-timer from the slot off a pass from PA Parenteau. The Avalanche made it 2-0 at 1:09 of the second period when Stastny scored during a two-man advantage for his fifth goal in the past five games. David Jones and Backlund were in the penalty box for separate tripping calls when Colorado defenseman Erik Johnson fired a puck off the end boards. It came to Stastny near the right post and he flipped it by Ramo. Cammalleri, who had seven shots, scored his first goal at 6:07, connecting against Giguere from the base of the right circle after taking a pass from Backlund.

Buffalo @ Anaheim 2-6 - Getzlaf completed a hat-trick when he went to the net and easily backhanded the puck past Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller to give Anaheim a 4-1 lead with 20 seconds remaining in the opening period. At that point his three goals and one assist came in 4:56 of ice time. Getzlaf set the tone 2:11 into the game when he swatted a loose puck through Miller's legs on the power play. Later in the period, a Buffalo rim-around clear took an odd carom off the corner and bounced out to Getzlaf, who rifled it to the upper left corner for his second goal at 16:29. Penner found himself alone to backhand in Perry's rebound at 4:53 of the second period, and his four-point night was his first since Dec.11, 2009. Penner, who had 14 points in 33 regular-season games with the Los Angeles Kings last season, has 12 points in 11 games with Anaheim. McCormick won a puck battle with Nick Bonino behind the net and fed Grigorenko for his first goal of the season at 13:26 of the first period, and took the puck in the neutral zone to start the rush that produced Grigorenko's second 13:09 into the second.
