St Louis Blues Release Barret Jackman
Barret Jackman will not return to the St. Louis Blues next season, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Thursday. The 34-year-old defenseman has played his entire 13-season NHL career with the Blues. He will be an unrestricted free agent July 1, and the Blues told him they will not attempt to sign him, the newspaper said. The Blues selected Jackman with the 17th pick of the 1999 NHL Draft, and he made his NHL debut April 14, 2002. He won the 2003 Calder Trophy after scoring three goals and 19 points with a plus-23 rating. Jackman's 803 games are second in Blues history; he had 28 goals, 181 points and 1,026 penalty minutes. This season he had two goals, 15 points and a plus-3 rating playing an average of 16:48 in 80 games.
