Aaron Dell made 24 saves, and Daniel O'Regan, Mikkel Boedker, Kevin Labanc and Brandon Bollig scored in the second period of a 5-0 win for the San Jose Sharks against the Anaheim Ducks in the preseason opener for each team at SAP Center. Filip Sandberg scored in the first period. Barclay Goodrow and Tim Heed each had two assists. Reto Berra made 31 saves for the Ducks.
Vegas Golden Knights @ Sharks 2-5 - Thursday, September 21, 2017
The San Jose Sharks scored four times in the second period of a 5-2 win against the Vegas Golden Knights at SAP Center. It was the first loss in three preseason games for Vegas. Tomas Hertl had a goal and an assist for the Sharks. Kevin Labanc, Joe Pavelski, Jannik Hansen and Brenden Dillon scored in the second period. David Perron (5:12) and Teemu Pulkkinen (6:25) scored in the third period for the Golden Knights to make it 4-2. Martin Jones made 15 saves for San Jose, and Calvin Pickard had 29 for Vegas.
Alumni Game
The Sharks inaugural "Legends Game," took place on Sun., Sept. 24 at SAP Center following the 2017 Sharks Fan Fest.
Some of the most prominent players in franchise history returned to the SAP Center ice in a Sharks uniform, competing in a scrimmage game that also featured the Sharks and Barracuda coaching staffs, along with local personalities and celebrities.
Team Teal featured Sharks alumni Jamie Baker, Dan Boyle, Douglas Murray, Tom Pederson, and Mike Ricci, along with Sharks Assistant Coach and Goaltending Coach Johan Hedberg, Barracuda Assistant Coach Ryan Mougenel, Sharks Pro Scouting Analyst Charlie Townsend, Barracuda Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Nick Nollenberger, 2003 Sharks draft pick and local restaurateur Alexander Hult, and KTVU-2 news anchor and avid hockey fan Frank Sommerville.
Team White featured Sharks alumni Scott Hannan, Kyle McLaren, Evgeni Nabokov, Owen Nolan and Mark Smith, along with Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer, Sharks assistant coaches Steve Spott, Rob Zettler and Dave Barr, Barracuda Head Coach Roy Sommer, and 107.7 FM The Bone morning host and long-time Sharks supporter Lamont Hollywood.
Serving as coaches for Team Teal were Sharks alumni Mike Rathje and David Maley. Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson and Sharks alumnus and Scout Bryan Marchment will coach Team White.

While the San Jose Sharks were getting ready for their first preseason game, 50 miles to the north there was another Bay Area team getting ready to represent the teal.

While the San Jose Sharks were getting ready for their first preseason game, 50 miles to the north there was another Bay Area team getting ready to represent the teal.
On Tuesday, September 19 the San Francisco Giants held a San Jose Sharks Night at the ballpark, honoring #BayAreaUnite and some Sharks legends.
Alumni Scott Hannan and Owen Nolan - plus their kids - were on hand to kick the game off with a "PLAY BALL!"
But before they started the game, they got to experience baseball's version of the warmup skate: batting practice.
Of course, it's not a San Jose Sharks Night at a ballpark without a sweet cobranded beanie.
Tim Heed scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give the San Jose Sharks a 5-4 victory against the Coyotes at Gila River Arena. Logan Couture scored in the first round for the Sharks, and Max Domi tied it in the second round for the Coyotes. Nick Cousins scored 30 seconds into the game, and Derek Stepan (7:26) and Luke Schenn (9:15) also scored to give the Coyotes a 3-0 lead.
Mikkel Boedker scored on the power play at 10:32 and again at 18:49 to make it 3-2. Cousins scored his second of the game at 1:38 of the second period for a 4-2 lead, but Barclay Goodrow made it 4-3 at 6:20 and Kevin Labanc tied it 4-4 at 7:44. Troy Grosenick made 24 saves for the Sharks. Antti Raanta stopped 28 of 32 shots in two periods for the Coyotes. Marek Langhamer made 12 saves in the third.
Anaheim Sucks @ Sharks 3-0 - Thursday, September 28, 2017
Anaheim Ducks goalies John Gibson and Reto Berra combined to shut out the San Jose Sharks 3-0 at Honda Center. Gibson made 15 saves through the second period before he was replaced to start the third by Berra, who had nine saves. Chris Wagner, Antoine Vermette and Kalle Kossila each scored in the third period for Anaheim. Martin Jones made 23 saves for San Jose.
Phoenix Coyotes @ Sharks @ 4-0 - Saturday, September 30, 2017
Louis Domingue made 31 saves, and Derek Stepan and Brendan Perlini each scored two goals to lift the Coyotes to a 4-0 win against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center. Clayton Keller and Max Domi each had two assists for the Coyotes, who went 2-3-1 in the preseason and open the regular season at the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 5. Stepan put the Coyotes ahead 2-0 with goals at 16:13 of the first period and 6:37 of the second (power play). Perlini scored at 2:58 of the third period and again at 18:54 (empty net) to make it 4-0. Martin Jones had 17 saves for the Sharks.
Sharks @ Vegas Golden Knights 5-3 - Sunday, October 01, 2017
Nick DeSimone broke a tie with a power-play goal at 10:51 of the third period, and the San Jose Sharks defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 5-3 at T-Mobile Arena in the final game of the NHL preseason. Marcus Sorensen, Chris Tierney, Barclay Goodrow and Joel Ward also scored for San Jose, which went 4-2-0 in the preseason. Aaron Dell made 20 saves through 31:48 before being relieved by Troy Grosenick, who made 14 saves. Erik Haula, David Perron and Colin Miller scored for Vegas, which went 3-3-1 in the preseason. Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves. Ward scored an empty-net goal at 19:32 of the third period.
