ENL - Whitley Warriors @ Kirkcaldy Kestrels 8-0 Saturday, August 22, 2015

The Whitley Warriors got their new campaign underway this evening with a trip North of the Border to Kirkcaldy in Scotland.
Kirkcaldy is a town rich in Hockey history, there have been teams playing the sport there since 1938. The Warriors opponents (the Kestrels) are the Scottish National League affiliate of the highly-decorated Elite League side the Fife Flyers.

This proved to be a devastating performance by the Warriors, as they racked up 8 goals and earned a shut-out, despite being without several veteran players.
There is every reason to believe this is going to be a fun season, especially having Canadian import Andre Payette in the team, who delivered an impressive performance and net two goals into the bargain.
There were plenty of checks delivered by a youthful lineup full of eagerness to impress and, captain Jamie Tinsley led by example with a good fight.
What was most impressive was how new player-coach David Longstaff never stopped communicating to his bench, delivering instructions and tactics.
The Warriors took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission, with even Kirkcaldy fans commenting their guys played well, but Whitley were simply too strong.
By the end of the second period the Warriors had doubled their lead, before netting a further four goals in the final 20 minutes.
Both Tinsley and Martin Crammond were amongst the goal scorers.
