Metallurg Mg v Avtomobilist 6-0
Magnitka produced another powerful display to crush Avtomobilist as Sergei Mozyakin set yet another record. When he converted a defense-splitting pass from Jan Kovar to make the score 2-0, Mozyakin scored his 250th regular season KHL goal and took his points tally in Magnitogorsk to 421. That matched Evgeny Korshkov’s club record tally, established in 2004 after 10 seasons in the Southern Urals. The game was a mix of the sublime and unlikely. Twice the home team benefitted from deflections and ricochets off home players: Chris Lee’s opener was going wide of the net until it bounced off a defenseman’s skate, then Alexander Semin’s first of the night was side-footed home football style as Metallurg made it 5-0. But there were some wonderful moments as well. Kovar’s pass, Oskar Osala’s blistering one-timer off Denis Kazionov’s pass for 3-0 and the pick of the bunch from Evgeny Timkin. The forward collected Viktor Antipin’s pass in center ice, raced clear of the entire Avtomobilist defense and deked his way past Igor Ustinsky to claim Magnitka’s fourth at the midway mark. Semin added two third-period goals to complete the rout; Vasily Koshechkin had 26 saves for his shut-out.
Lokomotiv v Slovan 2-3 OT
Lokomotiv slumped to a fourth successive defeat after conceding two goals in 90 seconds midway through the first period. The Railwaymen rallied to force overtime, but were ultimately beaten by a Jeff Taffe strike 23 seconds before the end of the extra period. Kyle Chipchura opened the scoring for Slovan in the 12th minute after Rushan Rafikov got caught in possession, then Tomas Kundatek added a second soon after. Slovan held that lead until the final stanza, but two power play goals lifted Loko back onto level terms. Alexander Polunin made it 1-2 in the 43rd minute before Petri Kontiola got the tying score with six minutes to play.
SKA v Dinamo Minsk 6-2

Igor Shestyorkin’s long shut-out sequence came to an end, but Dinamo Minsk never came close to threatening SKA’s dominance at the top of the KHL table. Nikita Ustinenko scored on Shestyorkin for the first time since September 27, and his goal at 26:03 ended the 20-year-old’s shut-out streak at 272 minutes, eight seconds – a new club record for SKA. That ended the goalie’s chances of topping Alexei Murygin’s year-old KHL shut-out record, but did little to help the Belarusians after SKA powered into a five-goal lead in the first 24 minutes.

Alexander Khokhlyachyov and Slava Voynov made it 2-0 inside 10 minutes; Nikita Gusev and Evgeny Dadonov doubled that lead before the first intermission. Ilya Kablukov added a fifth before Ustinenko’s strike and after something of a lull the teams traded late goals. Dinamo added a second in the 59th minute through Ilya Shinkevich before Vadim Shipachyov wrapped up the scoring for SKA with 10 seconds left.
