Sibir v Ugra 7-1
Alexei Skabelka, son of Sibir's head coach Andrei, had a day to remember in his team's emphatic victory over Ugra. The 23-year-old completed a 'Gordie Howe hat-trick' as he recorded his first ever KHL points and tussled with Alexander Akhmaldinov during his team's big win. The fisticuffs came first - a minor penalty for roughing in the third minute, with Sibir already a goal to the good thanks to Sergei Shumakov's first-minute marker. Then came an assist, helping Konstantin Okulov to make it 3-1 before a 48th-minute power play strike claimed Sibir's sixth of the night. Aside from Skabelka Jnr, Stepan Sannikov also had a notable game with two goals.
Metallurg Nk v Medvescak 3-5
Medvescak picked up a 5-3 win at Metallurg Novokuznetsk thanks to a good performance in the third period. The game was tied at 2-2 going into the final stanza, with the visitor's bright start cancelled out by Ignat Zemchenko and Nikita Yazkov. But two goals from Gilbert Brule and a clincher from Alexandre Giroux set the Croatian team on the way to victory.
Avangard v Slovan 3-4
A frenetic final minute saw Avangard seemingly salvage something from this game, only for Slovan to snatch a dramatic victory. The visitor led 3-2 when Alexander Perezhogin got the game-tying goal on 59:18. Most people in the arena surely settled down to watch some overtime, but not the men from Slovakia. Just 17 seconds later Slovan hit back, with Jeff Taffe delivering a knock-out blow to seal the game in regulation. The visitor had led throughout with goals from Patrick Luza, Vaclav Nederost and Lukas Vopelka giving Slovan the edge. Anton Burdasov scored twice to keep Avangard in contention.
Barys Astana v Avtomobilist 3-4
Barys saw its unhappy run of form continue with a 4-3 home loss against Avtomobilist. The damage was done in 10 minutes of the second period when Jan Buchtele, Rok Ticar and Alexander Torchenyuk all found the net for Avto, opening up a 4-2 lead. Nigel Dawes pulled one back midway through the third period, but it wasn't enough for the Kazakhs.
Traktor v Dinamo Riga 3-0
Maxim Yakutsenya scored twice as Traktor won 3-0 at home to Dinamo Riga. Nikolai Belov opened the scoring in the 37th minute before Yakutsenya got two in the third period. Vasily Demchenko made 21 saves for his shut-out.
CSKA Moscow v Severstal 5-2
The Army Men marched to an eighth successive victory with a confident dismissal of Severstal - but only after coming from behind. Mikhail Naumenkov gave the home team a great start with a fourth-minute goal, but the visitor hadn't read the script and responded to take the lead thanks to strikes from Pavel Chernov and Igor Skorokhodov either side of the 10-minute mark. But once Greg Scott tied the game 35 seconds before the first intermission there was no way back for the Steelmen. Bud Holloway and Jonas Enlund added two in quick succession early in the second period before Artyom Blazhievsky completed the scoring in the 40th minute.
