Amur v Neftekhimik 4-1
Two games in the Far East brought emphatic home wins. Amur made it four victories in a row by downing Neftekhimik 4-1 while Admiral beat Lada 5-2. In Khabarovsk, Tomas Zahorna put the home team up in the first period before two markers in the middle stanza from Vladislav Ushenin and Kristian Kuusela stretched the advantage. Kirill Kapustin added a fourth on 43 minutes before Andrei Stas robbed Juha Metsola of a shut-out.
Admiral v Lada 5-2
In Vladivostok, a blistering first period saw Admiral race into a 5-0 lead over Lada. Robert Sabolic led the way with two goals; Jason Akeson, Andrei Sigaryov and Dmitry Lugin got the others. The visitor rallied slightly in the rest of the game, scoring twice to make the final scoreline a little more respectable.Kunlun v Ak Bars 2-3
In Beijing or Shanghai, Kunlun had made an unbeaten start to its KHL career. Victories over Admiral, Neftekhimik and Lada confirmed that the league newcomer was more than capable of competing in its first season. But the arrival of Ak Bars – with all due respect to the previous visitors to China, a team with some impressive hockey pedigree – brought that streak to an end. The visitor didn’t have it easy, though. Kunlun grabbed an early lead in a Tomas Marcinko power play goal, but gave up a penalty of its own to enable Jiri Sekac to level barely a minute later. Fyodor Malykhin got his second goal in two games to make it 2-1 to Ak Bars, but Kunlun tied the game early in the second period through Anssi Salmela. Matters remained even until midway through the third period, when Andrei Chibisov got his first goal of the season to edge a narrow verdict for Ak Bars and finally see a team come to China and conquer Kunlun.
Salavat Yulaev v Slovan 6-3
Linus Omark led the way with four points as Salavat Yulaev ended a two-game losing streak in emphatic style. The Swedish forward had two goals and two assists in Salavat’s impressive win. His first contribution came in the 14th minute with a helper on Andreas Enqvist’s opening goal. Then, in the 26th minute, he scored his first of the night to make it 3-1, before chipping in with another assist as Alexander Loginov got the home team’s fourth on a power play late in the second period. Artyom Chyornov got his first of the season to make it 5-2 and Omark wrapped up a fine individual display with Salavat’s sixth in the closing stages. At the other end, Marek Daloga scored his first KHL goals for Slovan but his brace was not enough to wrest the points away from the home team.
Dynamo v Torpedo 0-1
Dynamo fired blanks for the first time this season, failing to beat in-form Torpedo goalie Ilya Proskuryakov in a low-scoring game. Proskuryakov made 20 saves to become the first goalie to blank the Blue-and-Whites this season. At the other end, a first-period strike from Dmitry Semin, his third of the season, was enough to send all three points back to Nizhny Novgorod.
