Pittsburgh: The Penguins have claimed forward Mark Arcobello off waivers from the Nashville Predators, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford. Arcobello, 26, has split this season between the Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers, scoring eight goals and 13 points in 40 NHL games. A native of Milford, Connecticut, Arcobello split last season between Edmonton and the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Oklahoma City. In 41 NHL games, Arcobello had 18 points (4G-14A) while winning 51% of his faceoffs. In 82 career NHL games with Edmonton and Nashville, Arcobello has totaled 31 points (12G-19A). Arcobello, who broke into his career with the Edmonton organization as an undrafted free agent, is Oklahoma City’s all-time leading scorer with 161 points (60G-101A). He is also the club’s all-time leader in playoff points (35), goals (18) and assists (17). Arcobello was an AHL All-Star in 2013. Prior to turning pro, Arcobello skated four seasons with the Yale Bulldogs of the ECAC, where he posted 116 points (49G-67A) in 131 contests. During his junior campaign he was named a NCAA Second-Team All-American.

Minnesota: Wild defenseman Ryan Suter will have a hearing Wednesday for an elbow to Pittsburgh Penguins forward Steve Downie during a game at Consol Energy Center on Tuesday night. Suter was not penalized on the play at approximately 4:24 of the second period. Downie left the game and did not return. The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: elbowing. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review. The Penguins won the game 7-2.

The Wild acquired goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Coyotes on Wednesday for a third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. Dubnyk is 9-5-2 with a .916 save percentage in 19 games for the Coyotes this season. He had a poor 2013-14 season split between the Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators and Montreal Canadiens organizations, but the 28-year-old had at least a .914 save percentage in each of his previous three seasons with the Oilers.  The Wild desperately needed goaltending help. Josh Harding was playing like a Vezina Trophy candidate last season despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but he has not played since Dec. 31, 2013 because of complications with the treatment of the disease and a broken foot sustained during training camp.  Darcy Kuemper has a .902 save percentage) and Niklas Backstrom is at .887; they are 35th and 40th, respectively, out of 42 qualified goaltenders this season.

St Louis: Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has given goaltender Martin Brodeur a one-week leave of absence from the team. Brodeur will rejoin the club in one week and his future will be addressed at that time. The 42-year-old Montreal, Quebec native has appeared in seven games for the Blues this season, posting a 3-3-0 record to go along with a 2.87 goals-against average, a .899 save-percentage and one shutout. The Blues and Brodeur will have no further comment at this time.
