* Montreal @ Ottawa 3-1 - Canadiens goaltender Mike Condon made 20 saves to win a battle of rookie goaltenders at Canadian Tire Centre. Matthew O'Connor, backing up Senators veteran goaltender Craig Anderson while Andrew Hammond is out with a groin injury, made 31 saves. Condon won the backup job behind Carey Price with a strong training camp, beating out Dustin Tokarski. With a minute to go in the third period and the Canadiens up 3-1, Condon made two big saves on Ottawa captain Erik Karlsson with the Senators on a power play. After Plekanec had given the Canadiens a 2-0 lead, Pageau cut it in half when he scored a shorthanded goal at 9:09 of the second period. O'Connor made three or four sharp saves to start his NHL career, but he was beaten by a shot along the goal line by Plekanec at 9:41 of the first period.
Plekanec made it 2-0 at 18:34 of the first period when he blocked a shot by Karlsson inside the Montreal blue line and broke away. With Karlsson in pursuit, Plekanec held off the Senators captain and shot the puck between O'Connor's pads. Mitchell deflected a shot by Subban at 5:41 of the third period to increase the Canadiens' lead to 3-1. Mitchell got his stick on the shot at the top of the left circle and the puck fluttered by a screened O'Connor on the stick side.

* Tampa Bay @ Boston 6-3 - There haven't been a lot of highlights for Lightning forward Steven Stamkos at TD Garden. He lost Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final to the Bruins here. He sustained a broken tibia that forced him to miss the majority of the 2013-14 season here. The Lightning had lost 10 straight regular-season games here since March 25, 2010. Stamkos, though, turned the Garden into a joyous arena for him and the Lightning. He scored a power-play goal in the second period for his 500th NHL point to put the Lightning ahead to stay in a come-from-behind 6-3 victory.
The Lightning trailed the Bruins 2-0 early and the score was 3-3 when Stamkos provided his heroics. Stamkos beat Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask with a one-timer from the top of the left circle with 4:43 remaining in the second period for a 4-3 lead and his historic point. The Lightning took a 5-3 lead at 5:38 of the third period when Jonathan Drouin's shot fluttered through Rask's pads. The Bruins goaltender felt like he let the Bruins down. The Bruins were 3-for-4 on the power play, including two goals in the first 11:02 of the game. Center David Krejci, who had a goal and two assists, beat Bishop with a slap shot from the top of the left circle through an Eriksson screen at 2:59. Loui Eriksson then scored on a one-timer from the right side of the slot at 11:02.
Boyle started the Lighnting's comeback with a goal from between the circles at 15:42. Tampa Bay then cashed in on its own power play when Ondrej Palat scored on a deflection at 16:51 to tie it at 2-2. Boyle's second goal came on a breakaway after a penalty kill and put the Lightning ahead 3-2 at 4:48 of the second period. Boston tied it 3-3 on Eriksson's second power-play goal of the game. Krejci's slap shot from the blue line went off Eriksson's body and past Bishop at 12:20.

* Columbus @ Buffalo 2-4 - Jack Eichel's goal 9:21 into the third period helped gave the Sabres a 4-2 victory. Eichel's goal was his second of the season, Ryan O'Reilly scored his first with the Sabres and Jamie McGinn had his first two assists with Buffalo. The win was the Sabres' first of the season and for coach Dan Bylsma with Buffalo. Eichel gave the Sabres a 3-1 lead with his second goal of the season. He picked up a loose puck near the blue line in the Columbus zone let go a wrist shot from the left circle that beat goalie Sergei Bobrovsky up high. Scott Hartnell made it 3-2 when he scored a power-play goal with 6:47 left in the third period. Hartnell received Ryan Johansen's pass from behind the net and shot the puck past Sabres goalie Chad Johnson. Matt Moulson added a power-play goal with 4:13 left in the third for the margin of victory, one of his three points in the game.
Rasmus Ristolainen's power-play goal gave the Sabres a 1-0 lead 2:33 into the second period. With Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno in the penalty box for holding, Evander Kane passed across the zone to Marcus Foligno, who passed to Ristolainen at the blue line. Ristolainen's slap shot beat Bobrovsky on his blocker side. Foligno took three minor penalties and two led to power-play goals for Buffalo. O'Reilly's first goal made it 2-0. With Foligno in the penalty box for tripping, Jamie McGinn found Moulson in the slot. Moulson passed to a wide open O'Reilly, whose slap shot that beat Bobrovsky over his right shoulder.
Brandon Saad cut the lead to 2-1 with his second goal of the season when he put a rebound of Foligno's shot past Johnson, who was sprawled out after he stopped Foligno's attempt.

* Florida @ Philadelphia 0-1 - Michal Neuvirth was the surprise starter Monday after the Flyers announced in the morning that Steve Mason would be unavailable because of a family situation. The Flyers recalled Jason LaBarbera from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League as back up. Neuvirth made 12 saves in the first period, including four while the Flyers killed a double minor after Michael Raffl was called for high sticking 1:17 into the game. The Flyers entered the game 28th in the League on the penalty kill after allowing four goals in 10 times shorthanded in their first two games, including three in seven tries Saturday. They were 6-for-6 against the Panthers on Monday. You would think a team as dirty as the Flyers would be used to playing on the penalty kill eh?
Moments after killing the Raffl penalty, Gagner and Sean Couturier led a rush down the right side of the ice into the Panthers zone. Gagner carried the puck into the right circle and took a wrist shot that Luongo stopped. The rebound bounced through the crease to Schenn, who scored his second of the season at 5:57 of the first. Neuvirth did the rest; he was at his best in the third period when he made 14 saves. He stopped defenseman Alex Petrovic's wrist shot from the top of the circles and then flopped back to stop Brandon Pirri from putting in the rebound with about 6 minutes to go. On the next shift, Jaromir Jagr took the puck behind the Flyers net, skated out through the left side and passed to Aleksander Barkov in front of the net, but Neuvirth kept the puck out. The Panthers pulled Luongo for an extra attacker with 1:11 left. Their best chance came with 11.7 seconds left when Pirri had an open look from the right circle, but Neuvirth made a glove save.
Dirty Dog Wayne Simmonds was involved in one of several fights between the two sides as the Philly Goons reverted to type.
