Montreal @ Columbus 3-2 - The Blue Jackets were outplayed by the  Canadiens for much of the first two periods despite leading by two with less than nine minutes left in regulation. But the Blue Jackets became undisciplined and the Canadiens scored three times on the power play in a span of 3:53 in the third period for a 3-2 victory. Max Pacioretty scored the first and third goals. His first goal with 8:30 left in the third period came on Montreal’s 25th shot against goalie Sergei Bobrovsky and was tipped by a Columbus player. Subban got his ninth with three seconds left on a Jared Boll high-sticking penalty to tie the game 2-2. Pacioretty scored the go-ahead goal with 4:37 left in regulation off a redirect of forward Tomas Plekanec's pass. Columbus forward Brandon Dubinsky was in the penalty box when Pacioretty scored and took blame for the loss. Columbus had trouble generating offense, even with a 1-0 lead after a first-period goal by defenseman Kevin Connauton. He got his seventh goal at 3:31 with the help of a screen by Blue Jackets Sean Collins. Columbus was on a delayed penalty when forward Jeremy Morin passed to Connauton at the left point. His shot appeared to hit a stick on the way to the net. Montreal thought they tied the game with 5:01 left in the first period when a pass out of the left corner by Plekanec skimmed Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher. The redirected puck went off Bobrovsky and hit the right post, but Bobrovsky swiped it out with his left pad before the puck was completely across the goal line. In the third period, Columbus was 13 seconds into a power play when Johansen scored his 16th goal past the stick of Price for a 2-0 lead with 10:22 to play.

Philadelphia @ Washington 0-1 - The Flyers struggled to break out of their zone early in the game, and a turnover led directly to Chimera's goal. Stationed near the Flyers bench, Matt Niskanen intercepted Mark Streit's clearing attempt and flipped the puck back toward the net. Chimera tipped it through his legs and Zepp's for his fourth goal of the season, first since Dec. 18. The physicality also ramped up in the second period. Niskanen leveled Scott Laughton with an open-ice hit with 2:50 remaining. Laughton left the ice after the hit and did not return because an upper-body injury.

Toronto @ Anaheim 0-4 - The Maple Leafs tried to breathe life into their top line by moving Winnik up to join Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak, but the three came up empty despite combining for seven shots on goal. The Sucks couldn't capitalize on the power play despite several chances and the final seconds of the two-man advantage were winding down when Kyle Palmieri's shot appeared to hit the back of the net and ricochet back out. Even Bernier stood up in the crease as though he knew the Sucks had scored, but play continued long enough for Anaheim defenseman Hampus Lindholm to send a slap shot past Bernier a few seconds later. After video review, the initial goal was awarded to Palmieri officially at 12:41 for the Sucks' fourth power-play goal in the past three games. Perry scored two more goals in the second period to extend the lead to 3-0. The first came on a wrist shot from the top of the right circle and Perry got some help when the puck nicked off the toe of Toronto defenseman Cody Franson, redirecting it past Bernier to make it 2-0. Perry then got past Maple Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf, Getzlaf hit him with a perfectly-placed stretch pass and Perry finished off a breakaway with a nifty move at 14:33. Perry completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal at 18:53 of the third period. Andersen made 10 saves in the final 20 minutes to preserve his second shutout of the season.

Anaheim Embellishing Once Again

New Jersey @ Los Angeles 5-3 - Steve Bernier's second goal of the game triggered a three-goal burst in a 68-second span of the second period. Bernier had his first multigoal game since 2013 playing on a line with Adam Henrique and Scott Gomez, who had two assists. Bernier was a scratch in the previous two games. Bernier, whose boarding major in Game 6 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Final facilitated the Kings' first Cup, got his second goal of the night when his pass to Mike Cammalleri bounced off Kings defenseman Drew Doughty's skate and into the net at 8:57 of the second, breaking a 1-1 tie. Marty Havlat beat Kings goalie Martin Jones with a wrist shot to the upper right corner at 9:20, and Cammalleri tapped in a loose puck for his team-leading 14th goal and the 250th of his career at 10:05. Michael Ryder made it 5-1 when he outmuscled Jake Muzzin near the net for a rebound goal at 17:05. Bernier opened the scoring when he knocked in Cammalleri's pass in the crease at 19:46 of the first period with Jarret Stoll in the penalty box for holding. Dustin Brown ended a 17-game scoring drought and tied the game 1-1 at 1:16 of the second period, off a slick rush by Doughty. Marian Gaborik got his team-leading 15th goal at 7:16 of the third and Mike Richards scored his second goal since Nov. 26 by beating Schneider with 58 seconds left.
