Anaheim Sucks @ Dallas Stars 3-1 - 03/01

Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry each had a goal and an assist and John Gibson made 39 saves to help the Anaheim Ducks earn a 3-1 win against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Sunday. Clayton Stoner scored the eventual game-winner early in the third period for the Ducks (40-17-7), who continued their recent strong form with their fifth win in the past seven games. Anaheim is 19-8-4 on the road. Dallas (27-26-10), winless in its past six games (0-4-2), got its lone goal from Patrick Eaves late in the second period. Perry put the Ducks ahead with 2:14 remaining in the first period with his 27th goal of the season off a rush. Jiri Sekac just left the penalty box after a hooking penalty, dashed up the left side and hit a streaking Perry, who finished top-shelf from the far post. Gibson made two huge saves early in the second, denying Curtis McKenzie with a pad save at 3:34 and then a diving glove save on Vernon Fiddler, who was attempting to score off a rebound one second later. Dallas pulled level late in the second period via the power play when Eaves scored his seventh goal of the season off a rebound. Eaves, who returned after missing the past seven games with a concussion, tapped the puck in at 17:51 of the second after a flurry of activity in front of the net. The Stars had one second remaining on the power play, which resulted from Stoner being called for high-sticking Dallas right wing Ales Hemsky. Dallas outshot Anaheim 17-3 in the second period. The Ducks regained the lead 4:19 into the third period when Stoner scored his first goal of the season off a slap shot from the left point. Stoner's shot appeared to be stopped by Stars goaltender Jhonas Enroth, but the puck trickled over the line after traveling through the five-hole. Stoner's goal was his first of the season and fifth of his career; he hadn't scored since March 18, 2014 at the New York Islanders, a span of 57 games. Perry found Getzlaf on a breakaway with 5:51 remaining and the Ducks captain scored his 20th of the season with a wrist shot that sailed in over Enroth's glove to give Anaheim a two-goal edge. Enroth made 19 saves in his fourth start since coming to Dallas in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 11. Anaheim lost right wing Tim Jackman to a lower-body injury early in the game. Jackman collided with Hemsky near the Ducks blue line 3:46 into the first period and had to be helped off the ice. He did not return.

Stars Quotes
Lindy Ruff: "I think you've heard the same speech enough. I don't like some of the mistakes we made on the goals. I think the lesson is they hung around and waited for that one big mistake we made, and they put it in the back of our net. That was the part that hurt. We turned the puck over in the middle of the ice, and it ended up in the back of our net."
Patrick Eaves: "We had a good power play winding down towards the end and (Trevor Daley) had a great shot and rebound. I was just hanging out in front and it came right onto my stick but it was a good job by (John Klingberg) and (Daley)."
Jhonas Enroth: "Every time I get the nod, I'm very excited. That's something great. I'm not afraid of playing a game or anything like that. Every time I get the nod, I see that as something good."
