Buffalo @ Vancouver 2-5 - Stewart opened the scoring on a power play four minutes into the first period with a nifty play in front of Miller. Bo Horvat put Vancouver on the board with 24 seconds left in the first period, ending the Canucks' scoreless drought on home ice at 195 minutes, 57 seconds by banging in a rebound of Zack Kassian's wraparound attempt. Yannick Weber and Nick Bonino had power-play goals 2:36 apart early in the second to spark the comeback win. Weber put the Canucks ahead when the Sabres misplayed a power-play rush 1:43 into the second period. Bonino, who was added to the top power-play unit this week amid a 2-for-28 funk, batted a loose puck out of the air to make it 3-1 on the next power play. Stewart closed the gap with his second goal on a power play with 5:44 left in the period. Miller kept Buffalo from adding a third power-play goal by stopping forward Drew Stafford in alone late in the second period and Chris Higgins extended the lead playing 4-on-4 after another Buffalo power play in the third period ended with a Drew Stafford high-sticking penalty. Radim Vrbata added a fifth goal into an empty net.
Chicago @ Anaheim 4-1 - Chicago had more pep at the start, and their energy produced a 1-0 lead on Toews' first road goal since Nov. 26. Toews collected a pass by Kane through Hampus Lindholm's legs and beat Andersen far side on a wrist shot at 5:30 of the first. Duncan Keith made it 2-0 with a close-range slap shot at 9:16 of the second. He scored as Jonathan Toews fell into Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen. Keith ended a 19-game goal drought and earned his 400th career point with the goal. Anaheim was incensed the goal was allowed despite Toews contacting Andersen, but it was in disarray long before the goal; the Ducks were outshot 14-7 and gave the Blackhawks three power plays in the second period. Kane's first goal, at 15:23 of the second, came on a wrist shot as he streaked down the left wing. The possession started when Ryan Getzlaf's pass in the neutral zone hit Marian Hossa's skate. Rickard Rakell scored for Anaheim on the power play at 10:06 of the third to make it 3-1. It was his fifth goal. But Chicago quelled any notions of an Anaheim rally when Kane scored his second of the night 3:19 later, much to the delight of the red-clad crowd that filled much of the lower bowl at Honda Center. Sharp assisted on both of Kane's goals, the latter with nifty work along the boards to set up a redirect by Kane in the slot at 13:25 of the third to seal the win.
