Montreal @ Detroit 2-3
Helm gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead at 11:18 of the second period when he scored on a breakaway after using his glove to knock the puck out of the air and onto his stick. Andrighetto tied it 2:03 later when he poked in a loose puck from the crease. It was his fourth goal. Charles Hudon, playing in his first NHL game, got an assist for his first point. Fleischmann gave the Canadiens a 2-1 lead 4:30 into the third period when he beat Mrazek from the inside part of the right circle. Abdelkader's power-play goal tied it 2-2 with 7:12 remaining. Zetterberg's pass from the left corner deflected off Abdelkader's skate and went past Tokarski. It was Abdelkader's 10th goal of the season and fifth in his last five games. Darren Helm broke a 2-2 tie with 6:01 remaining when he swept across the crease and beat Dustin Tokarski for his second goal of the game and third of the season.
Ottawa @ Tampa Bay 1-4
Nikita Kucherov gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead with eight seconds remaining in the first period. Tampa Bay had a two-man advantage after Chris Wideman and Mark Borowiecki were called for interference and hooking at 18:44. Kucherov took a feed from Steven Stamkos in front of the net and sent a slap shot past Ottawa goalie Craig Anderson high on the glove side. The Lightning made it 2-0 25 seconds into the third period with Filppula's third goal of the season. He was released from the penalty box and immediately found himself on an odd-man rush. J.T. Brown took a shot that Anderson deflected; Filppula put the rebound into an open net. Kucherov scored off a rebound of his shot at 8:33 of the third period. Anderson made the save, and Kucherov poked it past Wideman, who was trying to help Anderson block the open side of the net. Ceci made it 3-1 at 12:06 of the third period with his third goal of the season. Bobby Ryan found Ceci open in the slot on a delayed penalty and his wrist shot beat Bishop on the far post. Brown scored an empty-net goal with 14 seconds remaining.
Washington @ Florida 1-4
Jaromir Jagr scored his 731st NHL goal to tie Marcel Dionne for fourth place in League history. Jagr scored 51 seconds into the first period on the first shot of the game, tipping Dmitry Kulikov's wrist shot from the point. Jagr, 43, is 10 goals behind Brett Hull for third place. Wayne Gretzky's 894 goals are most in NHL history, 93 more than Gordie Howe. Pirri made it 2-0 with a power-play goal at 9:16 of the second period. He beat Grubauer on the glove side with a one-timer from the top of the right circle. Tom Wilson was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct early in the third period for boarding Brian Campbell, who left the game for a short time. After Kulikov went to the penalty box for tripping to put each team down a skater, Ekblad made it 3-0 at 7:19 when he redirected Huberdeau's saucer pass on a 2-on-1. The start of the game was delayed about 20 minutes because the required paramedics had to assist a nearby accident. The players briefly returned to the locker room while the teams waited for the emergency medical personnel to arrive at BB&T Center.
Buffalo @ Calgary 3-4
Johnny Gaudreau scored the game-winner with 4:50 remaining in the third period, and Jonas Hiller made 27 saves in a surprise start to help the Calgary Flames to a 4-3 win. Gaudreau's game-winner came after Ristolainen led a Sabres rally from a two-goal deficit earlier in the third. Off the rush, Gaudreau took a return pass from Monahan and beat Sabres goaltender Chad Johnson five-hole to put the Flames ahead for good at 15:10 of the third period. Ristolainen's first goal in 14 games cut Calgary's lead to 2-1. With Flames forward Sam Bennett serving an interference minor, Ristolainen beat a screened Hiller to the glove side 2:27 into the third. Off the ensuing faceoff after another Bennett minor, Ryan O'Reilly won the draw back to Ristolainen, who beat Hiller with a wrist shot from the high slot to tie the game 2-2 at 4:44. Monahan restored Calgary's lead with his second goal of the game at 9:25 of the third period, converting on a backdoor pass from Gaudreau. But Ristolainen completed his hat trick with 5:45 remaining in the third period, circling behind the net before sending a pass through the crease that hit Dennis Wideman and bounced into the net. Monahan scored 5:46 into the second period to give Calgary a 1-0 lead. Johnson made the initial save on Wideman's point shot, but Monahan scored on his second rebound attempt. Granlund doubled the lead with 7.1 seconds remaining in the second, beating Johnson after taking a cross-crease pass from Dougie Hamilton. Granlund has three goals in six games since being recalled from Stockton of the American Hockey League.
