The Penguins season got under way back in August, as they took part in the Champions Hockey League. They were placed in what proved to be a very tough group losing twice to Finnish giants Karpat Oulu, before a shoot-out victory in Vienna gave them a slight chance of progressing to the knock-out stage. All hopes were ended with a 5-6 defeat on home ice by the Vienna Capitals though. Now all attention switches to DEL action this coming Friday when they travel to Bavaria to take on the Augsburger Panther.
