 Tournament Results

Game 1 - Blue Jackets 5, Blues 2
The Blues got off to a sluggish start in their first tournament outing, conceding the game's first goal on their opening shift. However, the Blues' battery was jumped halfway through the first period when captain Colton Parayko went on an end-to-end rush and gave the Blue Jackets' goaltender his first real test. Shortly after, Columbus took their second penalty of the period and the Blues capitalized. From the right-side boards, Parayko fed Robby Fabbri in the slot, who saucered a backhander to Samuel Blais, who deposited the puck beneath the crossbar and tied the game at 1-1. The Blues' momentum carried over to the second period as they grabbed a 2-1 lead after St. Louis-born Zach Pochiro tipped in Dmitrii Sergeev's slapshot from the point. Penalties stymied their progress, though, as Columbus converted twice with a 5-on-3 advantage and carried a 3-2 lead into the third period. St. Louis was unable to recover in the final stanza. The Blue Jackets added two more goals, including an empty-netter, to secure a 5-2 win.
Game 2 - Blues 2, Rangers 0
The Blues came out playing a much louder brand of hockey against the Rangers on Saturday night. Several players landed board-rattling hits and their offensive creativity produced chances that drew "oohs" and "ahhs" from the crowd. C.J. Yakimowicz got the Blues on the board six minutes into the first period and the club held a 1-0 lead through the second period. An eye-popping slapshot from captain Colton Parayko found the top right corner less than three minutes into the third period and the Blues finished with a 2-0 win. St. Louis native Luke Opilka was perfect between the pipes, stopping 19 shots.
Game 3 - Blues 7, Wild 1
The Blues were dominant through their final game of round-robin play, torching the Minnesota Wild 7-1 on Monday. Samuel Blais started the scoring in the first period and Jordan Schmaltz doubled the lead with a power-play goal halfway through the second period. After the Wild tallied to make it 2-1, the Blues rattled off five straight goals, including a shorthanded marker from Ivan Barbashev, a power-play tally from Colton Parayko and even-strength goals from Glenn Gawdin, Robby Fabbri and Zach Pochiro, who finished with a goal and three assists.

Game 4 - Blues 5, Hurricanes 1 The Blues picked up right where they left off in Game 3, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead in Tuesday’s third-place game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Robby Fabbri scored two first period goals in a 10-minute span, giving him three goals in the tournament. In the second period, defenseman Thomas Vannelli and Vince Dunn scored to give the Blues a commanding 4-1 lead before Carolina’s Trevor Carrick beat goalie Luke Opilka at 17:13. Tryout Mathieu Lemay tallied just 2:16 into the third period, helping the Blues to a 5-1 victory and a third-place finish in the tournament.
