Vancouver @ Detroit 3-5 - The game was delayed nearly 35 minutes after a power surge knocked out some lights in the arena 29 seconds after opening faceoff. Ground has been broken in Detroit for a new hockey arena that's scheduled to open for the 2017-2018 season. The Red Wings reunited Zetterberg and Datsyuk, who scored his second goal of the game, ninth of the season, into an empty net in the final minute, to play against the Canucks' Henrik and Daniel Sedin. Linden Vey made it 4-3 when he scored his second goal of the game, sixth of the season, with 3:50 left in the third off a goal-mouth scramble. The play went to video review to determine if Vey had kicked in the puck. Matthias pulled Vancouver to within 3-2 with 7:34 left in the third when he tipped in Yannick Weber's shot from the right point for his fifth goal.
But DeKeyser answered 1:10 later when he scored his first goal on a wrist shot from the left point. Kronwall opened the scoring 3:15 into the game with his fourth goal. He beat Canucks goalie Ryan Miller with a wrist shot from the right circle after moving in from the right point. The goal snapped Miller's shutout streak at 155:20. Nyquist made it 2-0 with 8:44 left in the first period with a power-play goal. He got his 11th goal from the bottom of the right circle as he converted a cross-ice pass from Zetterberg. It was Nyquist's seventh power-play goal, tying him for the NHL lead. Vey put the Canucks on the board with a power-play goal 2:37 into the second period when he fired in a loose puck from the inside edge of the right circle. Datsyuk restored Detroit's two-goal lead on a power-play goal with 5:36 left in the second. Vancouver's Luca Sbisa tried to clear the puck from the bottom of the right circle, but it went in off of Datsyuk's stick. Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows was accidentally cut on the face by Red Wings forward Johan Franzen's skate in a collision in front of Vancouver's net with about 6:30 left in the second period. Justin Abdelkader wasn't on the Red Wings bench for the start of the third period and did not return to the game because of a shoulder injury.

Tampa Bay @ NY Rangers 6-3 - Prior to the game, the Rangers emphasized shutting down Tampa Bay's top line of Steven Stamkos, Ryan Callahan and Alex Killorn, a line that had 12 points on six goals and six assists in the first two games against New York. The Rangers did what they set out to do, limiting the top line to one assist from Stamkos. They had no answer for the Lightning's depth. Connolly and Johnson scored their second goals of the game in the first 6:59 of the third period to break open what was a 3-3 game. Connolly's winner came at 5:34 off a wrist shot from the right circle. Johnson's provided some insurance with a one-timer from the slot 84 seconds later. Johnson also had an assist on Matt Carle's game-tying goal in the third period, which came after the Rangers killed off 80 seconds of 5-on-3 time only to fail to clear the puck out of the zone. Ondrej Palat scored an empty-net goal. Kevin Hayes, Jesper Fast and St. Louis scored for the Rangers, who built a 3-2 lead in the second period but wasted a chance to have momentum on their side after killing off the 5-on-3.
The Garden crowd was roaring in approval, but there was one detail that prevented the Rangers from using it to their advantage. Dominic Moore, Dan Girardi and Marc Staal, were gassed and couldn't get off the ice because they couldn't get the puck out of the zone. Eventually, Ryan McDonagh's clearing attempt was intercepted at the blue line by Lightning defenseman Anton Stralman. Seconds later Johnson, who had just come on the ice, found Carle for a near-side one-timer from the left circle that snuck between Lundqvist's blocker and the crossbar.
Florida @ Columbus 1-2 - Michael Chaput and Kerby Rychel were called up from the Springfield Falcons of the AHL on Saturday, for the injury-ravaged Blue Jackets. Chaput set up Matt Calvert's goal in the first period to open the scoring, and it was a rebound of Rychel's shot midway through the third period that Boone Jenner put in for the game-winner. Jenner scored his second goal of the season with 9:55 left in the third with a backhand shot on the rebound of Rychel's shot. Ekblad got his third goal and 12th point at 1:23 of the second period, taking advantage when Calvert lost his stick. Calvert used his skates to try and block Ekblad's shot from the right point, but the puck went past goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who was screened by the tussle in front of him between Blue Jackets defenseman Dalton Prout and Panthers left wing Sean Bergenheim. When Bobrovsky could see the puck, he was stingy. He glided across the crease to deny a one-timer by Panthers forward Nick Bjugstad with six minutes left in the second to keep the score tied. Florida backup goalie Al Montoya, who made 21 saves, didn't see much action in the first when Columbus was held without a shot until 8:03 remained, but the Blue Jackets got the lead thanks to the third goal for Calvert. He scored on the Blue Jackets' second shot with 4:53 left by driving the net in anticipation of a pass from behind the goal line by Chaput. Calvert took the feed on the forehand to freeze Montoya, and then went backhand to put the puck behind him.
Montreal @ Colorado 4-3 - Max Pacioretty continued his clutch play, scoring on a 2-on-1 rush with 6:06 remaining in the third period. Pacioretty was in the left circle when he beat goalie Calvin Pickard to the glove side after Jan Hejda, the lone Avalanche defender back, slid to break up a potential pass to Dale Weise. The Canadiens were able to mount an outnumbered attack for the winning goal because Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson pinched in the Montreal end and center Nathan MacKinnon didn't cover for him. The Avalanche took 2-1 and 3-2 leads in the second period, but the Canadiens came back to tie the game each time. Subban blasted a shot from the left point that eluded Pickard low to the far corner at 15:16 to make it 3-3 after Lars Eller won a faceoff from Maxime Talbot, who broke his stick on the draw. The Avalanche went ahead 3-2 at 12:01 on a goal by Tyson Barrie, who moved down the right wing on a 4-on-1 rush that became a 4-on-2. He took a shot past sliding defenseman Tom Gilbert that went into the net off Brandon Prust or goalie Carey Price. Markov scored a power-play goal at 6:28 to tie the game 2-2. Alex Galchenyuk found Markov skating back door on the left side for a shot into a half-open net with 13 seconds remaining on Nate Guenin's slashing penalty. Matt Duchene rang a shot off the far post at 9:50 of the second period after skating down the right wing and by Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin. Price wasn't sure at first if the puck went in the net. Ryan O'Reilly put the Avalanche in front 35 seconds into the second after Duchene carried the puck down the right wing and passed to Alex Tanguay behind the net. Tanguay fed O'Reilly for a shot that beat Price to the short side. Colorado's Daniel Briere tied the game 1-1 against his former team with 33.5 seconds remaining in the first period. He took the puck away from Montreal defenseman Mike Weaver in the left corner, skated into the slot and fired the puck by Price's right arm for his fourth goal in the past six games and sixth of the season. Jiri Sekac opened the scoring at 8:09 with a shot from the left circle while on the rush. The Canadiens were outscored 21-7 in the first period in their first 25 games. Pickard made a big save at 16:08 against Pacioretty, who stripped the puck from Gabriel Landeskog inside the Avalanche blue line. Pickard made a pad stop after Pacioretty moved in on a breakaway.
Phoenix @ Edmonton 5-2 - Tobias Rieder is the owner of an NHL record. The Coyotes rookie right wing scored two shorthanded goals in 58 seconds in the second period, setting the standard by a first-year player. Former Oilers right wing Esa Tikkanen holds the record for fastest shorthanded goals; he scored twice in 12 seconds on Nov. 12, 1988 in a 6-2 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Coyotes right wing Shane Doan took a roughing penalty with 11 seconds left in the first period, giving the Oilers a power play to start the second. Rieder scored his first shorthanded goal 36 seconds into the period when he jumped on an errant pass at center, raced in alone and beat Fasth between the pads. On the same power play, Rieder was sent the other way by Martin Hanzal after blocking a shot from the point, worked his way around Oilers defenseman Nikita Nikitin and slipped the puck past Fasth. Eberle opened the scoring 5:37 into the first period on the power play. The Oilers right wing swept a rebound into the net that Smith left after a bad-angle shot from Taylor Hall. Rieder's two shorthanded goals gave the Coyotes the lead in the second period, which was extended to 3-1 on a point shot from Ekman-Larsson at 4:53. Boedker gave Phoenix a 4-1 lead at 19:43 when he got to a loose puck off a scramble in front of the net and lifted a shot over Fasth. Erat scored at 2:03 of the third period to make it 5-1 when he fired a rebound past Fasth on the power play.
Petry scored at 4:21 on a shot from the point past a screened Smith to cut the Coyotes' lead to 5-2.
Boston @ Anaheim 2-3 - Matt Beleskey has played on a line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry periodically for the previous five seasons. He's now showing what he can do with them on a full-time basis. Beleskey scored his career-high 12th goal at 4:43 of the third period and goalie Frederik Andersen made 32 saves. Beleskey's wrist shot from the left circle beat Boston goalie Tuukka Rask glove side. Ryan Getzlaf won a faceoff against Carl Soderberg straight back to Beleskey, who is second behind Corey Perry for the Sucks lead in scoring and is on pace for 36 goals. Boston pulled to 3-2 on Simon Gagne's goal at 10:20 of the third, but they could not capitalize on two power plays in the second; they blew shorthanded chances by Daniel Paille and Patrice Bergeron before Andersen stopped Joe Morrow on a breakaway. Smith-Pelly gave the Sucks a 2-1 lead going into the third period with his first goal since Oct.28. He deftly tipped Cam Fowler's shot from the slot at 19:38 of the second while the Sucks got traffic in front of Rask. Defenseman Vatanen tied it 1-1 at 11:17 of the second on a terrific play when he carried the puck into the zone, passed it to Patrick Maroon and went to the net to put in Maroon's rebound. Vatanen's sixth goal this season matched his total in 48 games last season, and he's one point shy of his career high (21). Andersen made 27 saves through two periods but Boston's Brad Marchand easily snapped it past him from the slot at 10:20 of the second after David Pastrnak's pass hit Andersen's stick and went right to Marchand. Boston held a 13-7 shot advantage in the first period, with most of Anaheim's shots coming from the perimeter that Rask saw cleanly. Andersen held up his end on two penalty kills in which Boston put seven shots on goal.
