Boston @ New Jersey 4-1

Spooner gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead 4:49 into the second when his wrist shot from inside the blue line beat Schneider, who was screened on the play by Matt Beleskey and Damon Severson. Vatrano scored his sixth of the season early in the first period after taking a rebound in the slot and knocking a backhand inside the left post past Schneider. The Devils pulled to within 2-1 when Farnham scored his sixth of the season of a wrist shot from the right circle that beat Gustavsson to the long side at 11:57 of the second period. The Bruins took a 3-1 lead to kill any momentum the Devils had late in the second period when Jimmy Hayes redirected a shot taken by Chara from the point on the power play at 18:35. The assist by Chara was his first point in five games. Miller scored off a slap shot from the left point at 6:33 of the third to give the Bruins a 4-1 lead.
Columbus @ Carolina 1-4

Seth Jones, who was acquired by Columbus on Wednesday in a trade that sent Ryan Johansen to the Nashville Predators, played 22:31, with one shot and two hits in his debut for the Blue Jackets. Columbus captain Nick Foligno left the game at 5:09 of the third period after a hit from Brad Malone appeared to catch the forward in the jaw. He did not return to the game. Jordan Staal's power-play goal for Carolina at 16:09 of the first period started the scoring. In the closing seconds of the man-advantage, Staal screened Columbus goaltender Anton Forsberg and tipped Jaccob Slavin's shot from the right point between the goaltender's pads. Versteeg had the second assist. After Carolina drew the first three power plays of the game, Columbus tied it on a 5-on-3 at 9:41 of the second period. Ward made a pad save on Jack Johnson, but Brandon Dubinsky passed across the top of the crease and scored off of the left skate of John-Michael Liles. Andrej Nestrasil and Jay McClement took minor penalties 10 seconds apart to set up the two-man advantage. The Blue Jackets had another 1:35 of 5-on-3 moments later following penalties on Chris Terry and Justin Faulk. Ward got a piece of a David Savard shot that hit the post. Carolina went ahead 2-1 when Lindholm scored on a redirect for his fifth of the season at 14:35. Versteeg won the puck on the forecheck, sending it to Noah Hanifin, whose shot was knocked down by Lindholm between the faceoff circles. Terry made it 3-1 at 9:20 of the third period. Jeff Skinner waited out two backchecking defenders before centering for Terry, who followed his own backhand for his fourth of the season. Lindholm scored into an empty net with 1:01 remaining.
"Yeah, we score one. You get another 5-on-3, it may change the momentum of the game completely. We don't. I don't think we gave them a whole bunch, but they scored on their chances. We just didn't develop enough to score goals on ours." Tortorella whined.

Tampa Bay @ Edmonton 3-2

Victor Hedman dived across the Lightning net with 7.9 seconds left in the first to knock away a shot from Leon Draisaitl on a scramble in front. Hedman scored the tying goal at 14:50 of the third period for Tampa Bay after Nikita Kucherov cut Edmonton's lead to 2-1 at 3:01. Steven Stamkos scored the game-winner with 4:09 remaining. Bishop made 24 saves. Schultz scored at 15:20 of the first period to give Edmonton a 1-0 lead. The Oilers defenseman was first to his rebound off a backhand shot from the slot and lifted the puck over Bishop.
Pouliot made it 2-0 at 3:38 of the second period on the power play. He deflected a shot by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins past Bishop. The goal initially was awarded to Nugent-Hopkins, but then credited to Pouliot for his ninth of the season. Mark Letestu came close to giving the Oilers a three-goal lead on an ensuing power play in the second period, but his shot hit the crossbar. Kucherov started Tampa Bay's rally with his 15th goal after taking a pass from Hedman at the Edmonton blue line. His shot through traffic hit Brandon Davidson and went past Talbot.
Hedman tied it 2-2 when his centering pass was deflected by Oilers left wing Taylor Hall. Hedman was attempting to pass the puck over to Ondrej Palat on a 2-on-1 rush, but Hall, who was backchecking on the play, had it go off his stick and into the net. Stamkos scored the winner when his centering pass hit off the skate of Darnell Nurse and got past Talbot.
