Calgary @ New Jersey 2-4

Larsson scored his first goal in 41 games to give the Devils a 1-0 lead at 5:12. After passing to Boucher in the right-wing corner, Larsson skated to the slot and took a return pass before driving a shot into the top left corner past Hiller.
Calgary tied the game 1-1 when Monahan scored a power-play goal 9:16 into the first. Gaudreau took a pass behind the net and fed Monahan low in the right circle for a one-timer that beat Schneider to the far side. The Devils took a 3-1 lead early in the second period when Stempniak and Boucher scored 17 seconds apart. Stempniak finished a 2-on-1 with Mike Cammalleri at 57 seconds; Boucher swept home his second of the season from in the slot at 1:14. Hartley challenged Boucher's goal, claiming Hiller was interfered. After a quick review, the goal was upheld. Russell scored a power-play goal 15:55 into the second to pull the Flames within 3-2. Gaudreau skated to the bottom of the right circle while shielding the puck away from Travis Zajac and backhanded a pass to Russell for a snap shot past Schneider. Greene's empty-net goal with 1:01 remaining gave the Devils a 4-2 lead.

Vancouver @ NY Rangers 2-3 OT

Mats Zuccarello scored a game-tying goal with 8:14 remaining in regulation and J.T. Miller scored on a wraparound with 1:06 left in overtime to help the Rangers to a 3-2 come-from-behind win. The Canucks entered the third period leading 2-1 on goals from Sven Baertschi (9:02 of the first period) and Alexandre Burrows (16:11 of the second period), but Miller had already made 29 saves and watched four other shot attempts hit off the post. Miller had to follow that with several saves on Grade A scoring chances before forward Baertchi gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead. He scored from the front of the crease off a wraparound pass from Bo Horvat. Stepan tied the game with a 6-on-5 goal during a delayed penalty at 4:18 of the second period, but Burrows ended a 24-game goalless drought with his first goal since Nov. 21 to give the Canucks a 2-1 lead after two periods. Both Baertschi and Burrows scored from in front of the net on missed coverages by the Rangers. Vigneault called those missed coverages mistakes, but didn't feel the need to dwell on them because of the overall performance his team delivered. Vigneault said Chris Kreider (one assist, 20:55 of ice time) played one of his best games of the season with Stepan and Miller. He credited the "Swedish line" of Oscar Lindberg, Viktor Stalberg and Jesper Fast for being tenacious and having some good moments. Stalberg had six shots on goal. Miller scored off of his own rebound.

Toronto @ Philadelphia 3-2
Matt Hunwick's goal with 7.5 seconds left in the third period helped the Maple Leafs end a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 win. Hunwick scored the winner when his slap shot from the right point went through traffic, deflected off Michael Del Zotto's right knee, and got past goalie Steve Mason for his first of the season. It came off a faceoff win by Tyler Bozak after Radko Gudas iced the puck. Polak's first goal in more than a year tied the game 1-1 at 13:19 of the first. Brad Boyes, cutting through the middle of the slot, tipped a Peter Holland centering pass that Mason stopped but fumbled. Polak, following the play, banged the rebound under Mason. Lupul put the Maple Leafs ahead 2-1 at 15:10 of the second period. Phaneuf got the puck alone in the low slot and took a quick shot that Mason stopped. He kicked the rebound into the slot, where Lupul scored his 10th of the season. The Flyers appeared to be on their way to rallying in the third period to get at least a point for the fourth straight game after Gostisbehere's spectacular individual effort to tie it 2-2 at 12:59 of the third period. He intercepted a pass by the Maple Leafs' Morgan Rielly at the top of the circles in the Flyers zone and skated the puck alone into the Toronto end. He paused at the blue line to create a 3-on-1 rush, then carried it to the bottom of the left circle and put a wrist shot between Reimer's pads for his eighth goal, which leads NHL rookie defensemen. The Flyers carried play early, at one point outshooting the Maple Leafs 11-1 and took a 1-0 lead on Read's power-play goal at 11:06 of the first period. But momentum shifted not long after that, led by Polak's goal.
Washington @ Columbus 6-3

The Capitals got scoring from three lines and some big early saves by Braden Holtby to defeat the Blue Jackets 6-3. Nicklas Backstrom had two goals and Evgeny Kuznetsov finished with four assists for the League-leading Capitals. Alex Ovechkin scored his 28th goal and had an assist but was stopped by Sergei Bobrovsky on a penalty shot with 9:20 left in the third period. Jason Chimera and Andre Burakovsky had goals; Matt Niskanen had two assists and Braden Holtby made 32 saves. He is 22-1-2 in his past 25 decisions. Rookie Kerby Rychel got his first NHL goal for Columbus and assisted Ryan Murray's fourth of the season at 5:07 of the third period to pull the Blue Jackets to within 5-3 but Marcus Johansson scored his 13th of the season into an empty net with 33 seconds remaining. Boone Jenner had a power-play goal for the Blue Jackets, and Seth Jones had two assists. Five minutes into the second period the Capitals had been outshot 16-9 but led 4-1 against Bobrovsky, playing for the first time in 17 games since sustaining a groin injury on Dec. 8. Bobrovsky finished with 22 saves. A double minor for high-sticking to Justin Falk led to two Washington goals in a span of 1:31 early in the second period to make it 4-1. Ovechkin scored from the left circle off a pass from Kuznetsov at 3:13, just 13 seconds after Falk was penalized. Backstrom scored his second of the game and 15th of the season at 4:47 when he redirected a feed by Kuznetsov past Bobrovsky. Jenner tied his NHL high with his 16th goal, on the power play at 9:35 of the second, but Bobrovsky's glove failed him on a long wrister by Burakovsky 50 seconds later that made it 5-2. A positive for Columbus was Rychel's goal at 9:30 of the first when he finished off a 2-on-1 with William Karlsson by beating Holtby. Rychel, the 19th player taken in the 2013 NHL Draft, is on his fifth recall from Lake Erie of the American Hockey League and is playing because several forwards are injured.

Boston @ Montreal 4-1

Bergeron scored at 16:49 of the second period to restore Boston's one-goal lead at 2-1. He picked up a rebound of Pastrnak's shot and went behind the net to beat Condon with a wraparound goal. Pastrnak made it 3-1 with his fourth goal at 12:14 of the third. Marchand scored into an empty net with 1:23 remaining.
Talbot took advantage of a turnover by Andrei Markov to open the scoring at 13:08 of the first right after Condon stopped him on a breakaway. Condon closed his pads to make the initial save on Talbot's backhand. Markov recovered the puck, but his clearing attempt went straight to Talbot, whose shot from the slot glanced off Condon on its way into the net. Barberio scored his first goal in 10 games with Montreal to tie it at 1-1 at 8:48 of the second when he one-timed P.K. Subban's feed past Rask. The Bruins and Canadiens wore the same style of uniforms each had designed for the Winter Classic. The jerseys, which will be signed by their respective players, are being auctioned off for the benefit of Denna Laing's recovery. Bruins and Canadiens players tapped their sticks on the ice and the capacity crowd applauded during a video tribute prior to the game for Laing, a Boston Pride forward who was injured while playing in the Outdoor Women's Classic presented by Scotiabank.

Edmonton @ Tampa Bay 4-6

Brian Boyle scored the game-winning shorthanded goal 7:42 into the third period to lift the Lightning to a 6-4 win. Boyle's ninth goal of the season came on a miscue by Oilers goalie Anders Nilsson. After clearing the zone, Nilsson left the crease to play the puck out at the right circle and Boyle beat him to the spot and scored into the open net. Down 4-2, Draisaitl's 11th goal of the season came at 2:10 in the third off an assist from Taylor Hall. The Oilers caught the Lightning on a line change and left Jason Garrison alone to defend a 2-on-1. Hall forced Garrison to commit to a side and placed a pass to Draisaitl, who beat Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy on the stick side. Pakarinen then tied the game at 4-4 when he sent a shot from the right circle on net and it got pass Vasilevskiy on the short side. Palat gave the Lightning a 3-2 lead at 6:09 of the second period. Namestnikov made a drop pass to Palat in the crease, who scored his fourth of the season. Namestnikov added to the lead at 17:12 in the period with a tip-in off a shot from Palat. Letestu had a shorthanded goal with 34 seconds remaining in the first period for Edmonton to tie the game, 2-2.
