Detroit @ New Jersey 1-0

Larkin scored 9:20 into the first period off a breakaway for the only goal of the game. Riley Sheahan won a loose puck in his own end and fed Brad Richards, who sent a saucer pass to Larkin at center ice. Larkin controlled the pass in stride and scored off a breakaway against Schneider with a backhand flip inside the right post. Mrazek forced Kyle Palmieri to lose the puck 7:05 into the third off a breakaway when he attempted to poke the puck off his stick from in close.
Schneider kept the Devils within 1-0 when he made a sprawling save 6:05 into the second against Joakim Andersson off a giveaway in his own zone.

Carolina @ Edmonton 0-1 OT

Andrej Sekera scored 2:47 into overtime, giving Edmonton a 1-0 win. Sekera followed his initial shot and tapped the rebound through Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward to lift the Oilers to their second consecutive win. It was Sekera's second overtime goal this season. The Oilers and Hurricanes took a conservative approach to the game and did not allow many clear-cut opportunities. Jordan Staal had the best chance in a tight-checking first period, firing a shot through traffic that hit the post. Play opened up in the second period, with the teams exchanging a number of opportunities. Jordan Eberle found room in the slot and took a shot that Ward was able to smoother. Minutes later, Ward made a good save on Taylor Hall streaking down right wing. Sekera went on to score the winner, taking a pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in the slot, firing a shot on net, following his rebound and poking it home before Ward was able to tip it away.

Phoenix @ Vancouver 3-2

Cheap shot Shane Doan opened the scoring with a deflection off his skate at 6:55 of the second period and added what proved to be the winner on a power-play rebound 1:13 into the third, tapping a loose puck into an empty net for his team-leading 15th goal. That goal turned out to be the winner after an apparent fourth goal by Michael Stone 4:35 into the third period was called back on a coach's challenge for offside, and Vancouver's Daniel Sedin scored off the rush six seconds later. Sedin left three minutes into the game after Stone batted a loose puck out of the air in his own end and right into Sedin's mouth, knocking out some teeth. After a brief, bloody stop at the bench, Sedin went to the locker room. But he returned with less than eight minutes left in the period and finished the game. Daniel didn't talk to reporters after the game, but twin brother Henrik Sedin, who set up Daniel's third-period goal off the rush, joked that he looked "a lot better than me." After being denied a couple of times early by Markstrom, Doan opened the scoring when a Connor Murphy slap pass from the point hit his skate and went in. Horvat tied it with 6:19 left in the second period, ending a 27-game personal drought dating back to Nov. 2 and a nine-game, 0-for-20 slump for the power play. But Dauphin restored the Coyotes' lead 19 seconds later. Dauphin was stopped in the slot after carrying the puck up ice, but the rebound bounced to Markstrom's right and Rieder's attempt went back through the crease for Dauphin to tap in. Presented with the puck after the game, Dauphin said he'd give it to his dad.
