With 2:30 remaining in overtime, Corey Perry took a slap shot from the left point that Nate Thompson redirected past Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen for the winner. It was Thompson's first goal with Anaheim, which snapped a 105:13 goal drought with Perry's second-period goal. Frederik Andersen stopped 21 shots to earn the win for the Ducks, who rebounded from a 2-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. Dallas coach Lindy Ruff was unhappy to see the Stars' record on home ice fall to 1-0-4. Dallas tied it 1-1 when Antoine Roussel scored his fourth goal on a tap-in with 5:27 remaining in regulation. The goal came three seconds after a Stars power play ended; the Ducks had been whistled for having too many men on the ice at 12:30. Perry opened the scoring with a goal off a low slap shot from the right circle that beat Lehtonen far post at 16:45 of the second period with the teams playing at 4-on-4. It was the Ducks' first goal since Devante Smith-Pelly scored midway through the third period of a 1-0 win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin's pass from the Ducks zone deflected off the boards to Perry, who gained possession near the red line and was off to the races. Lehtonen came out of the paint to cut down the angle, but Perry ripped it past him to his blocker side. Dallas had several chances to win it in overtime, including a shot from Tyler Seguin off a faceoff at 1:33 that Andersen deflected high and wide.
Ruff said he expects more from the Stars, particularly his top-six forwards, than what he got Friday. Boudreau made several changes to his lineup after the Ducks were shut out by the Blues. Left wing Patrick Maroon, who was a game-time decision, returned to action for the first time since Oct. 13 against the Buffalo Sabres; he had missed Anaheim's past eight games with a knee injury. Boudreau also put William Karlsson back into the lineup after he had been a healthy scratch the past two games. That meant Dany Heatley and Rickard Rakell were scratches for the Sucks. The game was scoreless after one period, but Anaheim led 1-0 after two on Perry's goal. Dallas had one shot in the second. The Stars had a solid chance early in the third when Seguin found Benn with a pass from behind the Ducks net, but Andersen denied Benn's wrist shot at close range. Boudreau was pleased with the performance of Sucks defenseman Josh Manson, son of former NHL defenseman Dave Manson, in his NHL debut. Manson put the puck in the Dallas net in the second period, but the goal was waved off because Tim Jackman crashed into Lehtonen after the Dallas goalie had denied him on a breakaway. Manson was whistled for a delay of game penalty earlier in the second. Lehtonen made 22 saves for Dallas, which is 1-4 in games that have gone past regulation.

From execution, from starting with the play breaking out of our own end. It starts with that first pass, and we didn't win enough of those small battles. Our power play's got to bear down and take ownership out there and get the job done. It's tough. It's something we've got to address and take care of it. We did a good job coming back and getting it into overtime."
