Ottawa @ Boston 2-4 - Matt Fraser scored his first two goals of the season 1:28 apart to break a tie game in the second period. Krejci, who has nine points in nine games this season, didn't practice Friday. He took the pregame warmup Saturday after coach Claude Julien had earlier said Krejci was ready to play. But when the game started, Fraser was in and Krejci was out. Fraser took over in the second period, which started with the score 1-1. He scored on a one-timer from the right dot at 11:14 after Carl Soderberg's shot from the left circle rebounded off Lehner toward Fraser. The Bruins doubled their lead on Fraser's second goal. This time Soderberg chipped the puck ahead to Fraser, who kept the puck on a 2-on-1 and roofed a wrist from the bottom of the left circle at 12:42 for a 3-1 lead. The Bruins went to the dressing room with that lead.
Seidenberg scored a goal at 2:08 of the third to put the Bruins ahead 4-1. Zibanejad scored for Ottawa at 15:43. Marchand continued his hot hand from Thursday by opening the scoring with a goal at 18:54 of the first period. Marchand, who scored two goals against the Buffalo Sabres two nights ago, beat Lehner through the five-hole with a wrist shot from the top of the left circle after center Patrice Bergeron beat David Legwand clean on a left-dot faceoff. The Senators evened the score with 28 seconds remaining in the first. Seidenberg pinched down the left wall to keep Dougie Hamilton's shot around the boards in the Ottawa zone. Seidenberg had a clear path to the puck were it not for linesman Brian Murphy being in the way. Stone took advantage of Seidenberg's fumble around Murphy, grabbed the puck and skated on a 2-on-1 against Hamilton. Stone kept the puck and tucked a shot behind Rask to tie the score 1-1.Chicago @ Toronto 2-3 - With the Maple Leafs leading by a goal, Reimer made point-blank saves on Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane with four minutes remaining in the third period. Thirty seconds later, Reimer stopped a Toews slap shot from 15 feet out. Toronto's Daniel Winnik set up the first Maple Leafs goal at 14:10 of the first period. After taking a pass from right wing Phil Kessel, Winnik broke in 2-on-1 with center Nazem Kadri. Winnik made a perfect crossing pass that Kadri tipped past Chicago goalie Corey Crawford for his fourth goal of the season. With Toronto's Sam Carrick off for hooking, Chicago's Brad Richards scored his first goal with the Blackhawks on a slap shot from 10 feet inside the blue line. Reimer was screened by Blackhawks center Andrew Shaw.
The Blackhawks took a 2-1 lead at 4:18 of the second period with another power-play goal. This time it was Brent Seabrook scoring from the point, and again it was Shaw providing the screen that took away Reimer's vision of the puck. James van Riemsdyk tied it for Toronto 1:04 later with his 100th NHL goal and 100th point with the Maple Leafs when he intercepted a Johnny Oduya clearing attempt and snapped a quick shot past Crawford. Peter Holland's first goal of the season gave the Maple Leafs a 3-2 lead at 2:21 of the third period. Left wing Leo Komarov set up behind the Blackhawks net and spied Holland alone in front. After a quick pass, Holland snapped a shot past Crawford.
The Blackhawks missed a chance to tie the game when Richards hit the crossbar. Shaw again was screening Reimer.
Washington @ Tampa Bay 3-4 - Jason Garrison scored the go-ahead goal at 2:27 of the third period. Garrison's second goal of the season came after center Steven Stamkos won a faceoff in the offensive zone, and the defenseman sent a slap shot between several players past Capitals goalie Braden Holtby. The Capitals took a 2-1 lead 2:11 into the second period after some strong goaltending by Holtby set up opportunities on offense. After a save on a one-timer by Lightning wing Ondrej Palat, the Capitals went on transition and Eric Fehr scored on a rebound of his missed shot. The sharp-angle wrist shot went above goalie Ben Bishop's shoulder and to the top of the net. The Lightning answered with two goals to take a 3-2 lead. Palat tied the game at 9:29 in the second period when he took a feed from Nikita Kucherov and sent a one-timer past Holtby. Kucherov gave the Lightning the lead at 12:12 when he redirected a shot from Eric Brewer beneath the glove of Holtby. Capitals wing Troy Brouwer tied the score 3-3 with 59 seconds left in the second period on a power play when he took a centering pass from Marcus Johansson and put a wrist shot past Bishop. Callahan, who missed the past five games with a lower-body injury, scored in the first period when he directed a pass from Brian Boyle between Holtby's pads. Johansson tied the game at 12:59 when he scored on a rebound of a shot by Alex Ovechkin. The assist ended Ovechkin's career-long five-game pointless streak. Lightning wing Alex Killorn left the game in the second period with an upper-body injury and did not return.
Philadelphia @ Florida 1-2 - Luongo made several big saves on redirections. His best stops came against forwards Michael Raffl and Matt Read in the first period and against defenseman Luke Schnenn in the second. Luongo also made a nice blocker save on a wrist shot by Claude Giroux in the second period.
Philadelphia had a 5-on-3 advantage for 32 seconds midway through the third period, but Luongo came up big again. His best save during the Flyers' two-man advantage came on a one-timer from Lecavalier. Mitchell scored his first goal for Florida. He beat Mason with a shot from the left point that bounced in off the far post with a couple of players in front of the Flyers goaltender. Ekblad made it 2-0 at 15:38 of the third with a power-play goal. Like Mitchell, he beat Mason with a shot from the point through traffic.
Columbus @ New Jersey 2-3 - For the second straight game, the Devils got off to a slow start only to turn up the heat in the third period on the way to a win. Adam Henrique and Adam Larsson scored in a span of 1:41 midway through the third to rally to a 3-2 victory. Larsson's first goal of the season gave the Devils their first lead 10:35 into the third period off a slap shot from the top of the right circle that beat goalie Anton Forsberg to the short side. Larsson took a pass from Bryce Salvador and patiently waited for an opening before scoring. Marek Zidlicky scored for New Jersey, which finished 2-for-6 on the power play. Jack Skille and Nick Foligno scored for Columbus. Henrique scored his first goal in five games on a power play at 8:54 to pull the Devils into a 2-2 tie. The goal came 16 seconds after Adam Cracknell was sent to the box for hooking. It appeared as though the play was going to be whistled dead, but the puck was uncovered in the crease and Jagr pushed at it before Henrique lofted a shot into the right corner. The Blue Jackets took a 2-1 lead 12:30 into the second period when Foligno tipped a shot past Schneider on a power play. Defenseman Jack Johnson took a shot from the right circle that Foligno tipped home while being pushed to the ice to give Columbus its second lead. The Devils tied the game, 1-1, 4:32 into the second when Zidlicky fired a high shot past Forsberg from the left circle on a power play. The Blue Jackets had a bit more jump in their game in the early going and made the Devils pay when Skille converted a 2-on-1 with Brian Gibbons 1:06 into the first. Gibbons, who was making his season debut, skated down left wing with speed and fed Skille, who beat Schneider inside the right post on the first shot of the game.
Winnipeg @ NY Rangers 1-0 SO - The Jets beat the New York Rangers without scoring a goal through regulation and overtime. Ondrej Pavelec made 38 saves in 65 minutes and three more in the shootout, when the Jets got goals from Blake Wheeler and Evander Kane to beat the Rangers 1-0. Kane scored the shootout winner in the fourth round with a forehanded shot past Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who made 25 saves, including 22 in regulation. Wheeler and Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello scored goals in the first round of the shootout. Pavelec made saves on Rick Nash, Dominic Moore and Martin St. Louis to give Kane a chance to win it. Pavelec's performance was particularly noticeable because the Rangers controlled the majority of the play through 65 minutes despite losing two defensemen to injuries in the first period. Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh sustained a separated left shoulder at 11:46, when he was driven hard into the corner boards by Kane. Kevin Klein left at 3:12 of the first with a foot contusion, a result of blocking Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba's shot at 28 seconds. Rangers forward Martin St. Louis had a chance to end the game 3:05 into overtime when he got in alone on a breakaway. He shot from between the hash marks but Pavelec said he got his elbow on the shot to knock it away.
Phoenix @ Carolina 0-3 - Elias Lindholm opened the scoring with his first of the season at 3:57 of the first period. After providing a screen for Brett Bellemore's shot, Lindholm pounced on a loose rebound with goaltender Mike Smith sprawled on the ice. Lindholm pushed Carolina's lead to 2-0 at 17:22. Once again, the second-year Swede corralled a long rebound before ripping a shot through a crowded goalmouth and past Smith. Tlusty's goal at 15:21 of the second period gave Carolina a 3-0 lead. Smith's clearing attempt was held in at the left point by Faulk, who sent a low shot toward the net. The puck squirted free to Tlusty at the right post for an easy tap-in. Faulk earned his second assist of the game. Ward sprinkled in big stops to fend off the Coyotes toothless-offense, Shane Doan and Martin Erat in the first period before coming across the crease to stop Antoine Vermette on a 2-on-1 in the second. Ward preserved the shutout in the final minute with a low glove save off the stick of defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The Coyotes disappointing season continues. Having lost to the worst team in the NHL (the Hurricanes were 0-6-2 heading into this encounter) you really have to fear for them this season. Maybe Mike Smith should stick to what he is good at; Pizza commercials.
Colorado @ St Louis 2-3 SO - Joakim Lindstrom scored the lone goal in the shootout and Brian Elliott stopped all three attempts Saturday in the Blues' 3-2 win at Scottrade Center. Lindstrom scored against Semyon Varlamov on the second Blues' attempt, beating the Avalanche goalie from the slot through the five-hole. Elliott stopped Ryan O'Reilly on Colorado's final chance after making saves on Gabriel Landeskog and Matt Duchene initially to preserve the win for the Blues. Vladimir Tarasenko continued his hot scoring run with two goals and Elliott stopped 27 shots to lead the Blues to their fourth straight win despite playing without Oshie (concussion) and former Avalanche center Paul Stastny (shoulder). Blues captain David Backes returned after missing Thursday with a concussion. Nathan MacKinnon and O'Reilly each had a goal and an assist, former Blues defenseman Erik Johnson had two assists and Varlamov stopped 27 shots for the Avalanche, who extended their point streak to six. The Avalanche rallied from a two-goal deficit to at least earn a point. The Blues dominated first-period play; they outshot the Avalanche 11-2 and scored the only goal. Tarasenko's fifth of the season came off a bit of a fortuitous bounce. Alexander Steen's feed caromed off O'Reilly right in Tarasenko's wheelhouse. Tarasenko stepped into a slap shot and beat Varlamov glove side with 3:31 remaining in the period for a 1-0 lead. A scoreless second period saw more open skating. The best chance came from Colorado's Alex Tanguay, who was robbed by Elliott with 4:13 remaining after a rebound came to the right of the Blues goalie. He sprawled and gloved Tanguay's effort from a sharp angle along the red line. Tarasenko scored his sixth of the season and fifth in three games when Alex Pietrangelo threw a puck towards the net and Tarasenko tipped it inside the near post 46 seconds into the third for a 2-0 lead. Tarasenko and Varlamov had dinner Friday night and have known each other for roughly three years and were teammates on Russia at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. The Avalanche didn't go away, scoring two power play goals in a 2:56 span. O'Reilly beat Elliott in the slot on the power play off a MacKinnon shot 2:19 into the third to make it 2-1. It was the first goal allowed by a Blues goalie in 118:52 and 119:42 on home ice. MacKinnon skated into the slot uncontested and snapped a shot high over Elliott's glove that deflected off Jay Bouwmeester's stick at 5:13 to tie the game 2-2. St. Louis went 0-for-3 on the power play but came out of a 10-game stretch in pretty good shape with 13 of a possible 20 points.
Vancouver @ Edmonton 3-2 - Vancouver right wing Derek Dorsett's shorthanded goal at 4:05 of the third period was the game-winner and gave the Canucks their third victory of the season against Edmonton. Dorsett intercepted an errant clearing attempt by Oilers goaltender Ben Scrivens off the right-wing boards and snapped it in on the short side for his first goal with Vancouver. Eberle gave the Oilers the lead at 12:39 of the first period, taking a pass from Hall on the wing and managing to squeeze a one-handed backhand shot through Miller. Sbisa tied the game with 47 seconds left in the period, getting to a loose puck in front of the net and snapping it past Scrivens. Vey scored at 16:37 of the second, powering a rebound past Scrivens for a 2-1 Vancouver lead. Perron tied the game 2-2 at 17:41, taking a pass from Leo Draisaitl and beating Miller with a wrist shot. The goal was Perron's first of the season. He and Eberle tied for the Oilers lead in goals last season with 28. Dorsett's shorthanded goal was the first of the season for Vancouver, and the second allowed by Edmonton. Eakins defended Scrivens, who made his eighth straight start.
