Calgary @ NY Rangers 1-4
The Rangers found a way to win against the Flames after falling behind 1-0 on Jiri Hudler's goal at 3:06 of the first period. Backup goalie Antti Raanta, making his second start, kept the deficit at one goal in the first period with a save on Mikael Backlund's shorthanded breakaway before turning aside the rebound attempt from Michael Frolik. The Rangers rallied in the second for goals from Oscar Lindberg at 12:03 and Dan Girardi at 16:57. They sealed the win with two more goals in the third period by Kevin Klein at 8:38 and Derick Brassard at 10:26. Raanta finished with 22 saves. He has stopped 44 of 45 shots he's faced in two starts for a .978 save percentage. Flames goalie Jonas Hiller was replaced by Joni Ortio shortly after giving up the goal to Brassard. The Flames have not held a lead going into the third period yet this season. They have trailed after two periods in seven of their eight games.

Los Angeles @ Edmonton 3-2
Goaltender Jonathan Quick bailed out the Kings with an outstanding save in the dying seconds against Connor McDavid and the Oilers at Rexall Place. Quick gloved a rebound from McDavid on the goal line with 5.2 seconds left to preserve a 3-2 win for Los Angeles. Video review was inconclusive in determining whether McDavid's shot completely crossed the line. Tanner Pearson scored his first goal of the season, which stood up as the game winner due to Quick's late heroics. Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter scored for Los Angeles, who extended their winning streak to five games. Quick made 26 saves for his fourth win of the season. Pearson scored on the power play at 16:34 of the third period, finding a loose puck in front of the net and putting a shot past Oilers goalie Cam Talbot. Pearson had not scored since Jan 8, 2015 in a 4-3 loss against the New York Rangers. Benoit Pouliot and Taylor Hall scored for the Oilers, who have lost two straight. Talbot made 31 saves. Pouliot gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead at 4:42 of the first period, firing a rebound past Quick after McDavid was able to get around Jake Muzzin and took the puck to the net.
With the assist, McDavid extended his point streak to five games. The No. 1 selection in the 2015 NHL Draft has five goals and four assists in his first nine games. Carter tied the game at 6:40 of the period, beating Talbot from a tight angle on a rebound. Talbot had kicked away a shot from Milan Lucic, but was unable to get back and cover his near post in time to stop Carter's shot. Carter has 14 goals in 18 games against the Oilers. Los Angeles went up 2-1 at 13:36 of the second period on a well-placed shot from Kopitar from the top of the faceoff circle. Hall tied the game 2-2 at 13:56 of the third period on the power play, tipping a pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. A hooking penalty to Lauri Korpikoski led to Pearson's power-play goal later in the period. The Oilers were force to play more than half the game with five defensemen after Justin Schultz left because of an undisclosed injury.
