Anaheim @ Vancouver 1-2 SO

Alexandre Burrows set up and set the screen for Christopher Tanev to tie the game midway through the third period, then scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Canucks a 2-1 victory at Rogers Arena. The assist on Tanev's goal 10:24 into the third period was Burrows' first point in 17 games. His shootout goal may not count in his personal statistics for the season, but it provided a big lift for the Canucks against the Pacific Division-rival Ducks. With teammate Radim Vrbata telling him to shoot high glove and Jannik Hansen calling for his signature backhand deke, Burrows admitted he had no idea what to do in the shootout. He came out wide on the left wing, then cut into the middle and started back the other way before beating Frederik Andersen low on the blocker side. Tanev's goal ended the Ducks' bid for a third straight 1-0 win. Back after missing with two games with a bruised foot, Tanev threw the puck at the net from the right point and it went through traffic in front before beating Andersen high on the glove side. Burrows was cutting through the crease as Tanev's shot floated past him and went in off the post behind Andersen. Burrows insisted the puck never touched him, but he started the play by winning a puck battle in the corner on a forecheck. Former Canuck Ryan Kesler opened the scoring on a second-period power play, but was stopped in the opening round of the shootout. Jakob Silfverberg and Corey Perry were also stopped by Jacob Markstrom in the tiebreaker. Anaheim is last in the League with 68 non-shootout goals, but hit the post behind Markstrom twice in the first period before finally converting a power play 7:24 into the second. Two former Canucks played a role in the goal, starting with Kevin Bieksa, who was playing his first game back in Vancouver since being traded to Anaheim on June 30 after 10 seasons with the Canucks. Bieksa, who played 597 games for the Canucks, was welcomed back with a video tribute and standing ovation during a break in the first period. He repaid them by drawing an interference penalty on Yannick Weber. Kesler, who orchestrated a trade to Anaheim in 2014 and was booed almost every time he touched the puck, scored with seven seconds left in the power play. Mike Santorelli, another former Canuck, made a nice pass out of the left corner to Chris Stewart, who was wide-open at the right circle. Stewart, back in the lineup after four games as a healthy scratch, waited until Markstrom came out and committed to him before sliding the puck back across to Kesler, who fought off Matt Bartkowski's check to tap in his fifth goal this season and first point in six games. The Ducks hit two more posts in the third period before Tanev tied it.

Detroit @ Buffalo 4-3

Tomas Tatar ended his goal drought and the Red Wings' losing streak by scoring with 2:50 left in the third period of a 4-3 win. Tatar received a pass from Mike Green, skated into the Sabres zone, pulled up and took a wrist shot that beat Sabres goalie Chad Johnson to the blocker side for his 12th goal of the season.
Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek helped keep the lead when he stopped Zach Bogosian on a breakaway with 1:24 left. Detroit took a 2-0 lead on goals by Brad Richards 7:01 into the first period and Riley Sheahan 7:59 into the second. Sheahan assisted on Richards' goal, playing on a new line with rookie Dylan Larkin. Sabres rookie Jack Eichel scored two goals 3:01 apart in the second period to tie the game. He made it 2-1 with a power-play goal on a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle he put over the right shoulder of Mrazek with 5:34 left. Mrazek was screened on the play by Jamie McGinn. Eichel then scored on a breakaway with 2:33 left in the period. He deked and shot the puck off the post, and it went off Mrazek's leg into the net for his 13th goal of the season, which tied Larkin for the rookie goal-scoring lead. Zetterberg gave the Red Wings a 3-2 lead 2:27 into the third period. He put a rebound of a Gustav Nyquist shot past Johnson for his seventh goal of the season. Sam Reinhart made it 3-3 8:58 into the third period with a power-play goal. Reinhart swept a rebound of a shot by Rasmus Ristolainen past Mrazek for his first goal in 11 games, ninth of the season.

Phoenix @ Edmonton 3-4 SO

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins snapped a shot past Coyotes goaltender Louis Domingue to start the third round of the shootout. Antoine Vermette missed the net on his attempt against Cam Talbot, ending the game and the Oilers' losing streak. Steve Downie gave Phoenix the lead at 6:56 of the first period when he was able to find space in front of the net behind Darnell Nurse and tapped a centering pass from Jordan Martinook past Talbot. Hall converted a centering pass from Leon Draisaitl at 7:55 to tie the game 1-1. Draisaitl chased down the puck in the corner and sent a backhand pass into the slot to Hall, who fired it past Domingue. Eberle scored on the power play at 11:39 to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead. Benoit Pouliot took a shot from the edge of the right circle that was stopped by Domingue, but the rebound fell to Mark Letestu. He slid a pass to Eberle, who scored the Oilers' first power-play goal since Dec. 15. Richardson's perseverance helped him tie the game 2-2 at 14:30 of the second period. Richardson's first shot was blocked in front of the net by Nurse, but he was able to collect the puck and beat Talbot between the pads. Duclair gave the Coyotes a 3-2 lead at 5:51 of the third period, taking a pass from Max Domi on a 2-on-1 and firing a shot over Talbot's shoulder. Eberle tied the game for the third time at 14:08, taking a pass from Nugent-Hopkins in front and lifting a backhand shot over Domingue. The Oilers had two excellent chances to score in overtime. Nugent-Hopkins hit the post on a backhand and Justin Schultz missed the net with a one-timer on a setup in front by Hall. After Eberle missed with the first shot in the shootout, Mikkel Boedker scored to give Phoenix the lead. Matt Hendricks scored to get the Oilers even, and Domi missed on the Coyotes' next attempt. Nugent-Hopkins scored to give Edmonton the lead and Vermette fired wide.

Philadelphia @ Los Angeles 1-2

Drew Doughty and Dwight King scored, and Jonathan Quick made 29 saves when the Kings defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 at Staples Center. Quick made saves during 6-on-4 and 6-on-5 Flyers advantages in the final minutes. He has a 1.40 goals-against average and .954 save percentage during a five-game winning streak. The Flyers had 16 shots on goal in the third and had a 2-on-1 broken up by Doughty with six minutes left. Doughty also broke up Jakub Voracek's pass in the slot with four minutes remaining.

The Kings, who lead the Pacific Division by 12 points, haven't won their division since 1990-91, when it was the Smythe. Doughty's seventh goal gave the Kings a 2-0 lead with 2:44 left in the first period. On a power play, he one-timed Jake Muzzin's pass from the left point and beat Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth on the far side. Doughty, who has six power-play goals, equaled his total from last season and is on pace to match his NHL career best 16 goals from the 2009-10 season. King scored his second goal in three games since his return from a broken foot. He pressured Radko Gudas into a turnover and one-timed Marian Gaborik's pass on a two-on-none at 7:33 of the first for a 1-0 lead.

NY Rangers @ Florida 0-3

The Panthers won their sixth consecutive game at home, the longest streak in their history, and they did it in front of a season-high crowd of 20,289 at BB&T Center, the third-largest in their history. Luongo's third shutout of the season tied him for 11th place on the NHL's all-time list with Lorne Chabot and Harry Lumley. He also broke his own Panthers record with his seventh consecutive victory. Shaw gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead with 24.8 seconds left in the first period when he redirected Corban Knight's backhand pass and beat Lundqvist to the stick side. The Panthers got a lucky break to make it 2-0 at 4:41 of the second period. Lundqvist made a blocker save on Alex Petrovic's slap shot from the point, but the rebound bounced off Trocheck's leg and past Lundqvist. Pirri scored a power-play goal at 11:18 of the second when he finished a beautiful sequence that began in the neutral zone and included about a half-dozen tape-to-tape passes. Pirri beat Lundqvist between the legs from the right faceoff dot when he one-timed Reilly Smith's pass from the other wing. The Rangers' best offensive sequence came during a power play in the second period when Luongo made spectacular glove saves against Keith Yandle and Derek Stepan.

Washington @ Columbus 4-5 SO

Goaltender Anton Forsberg arrived at Nationwide Arena on Saturday morning well before his equipment did from Milwaukee, Wis., where the Lake Erie Monsters were scheduled to play an American Hockey League game. Fortunately for the Columbus Blue Jackets, his gear got here, because the rookie was thrust into his making NHL season debut in overtime against the Washington Capitals.
Forsberg made six saves before stopping two of three shootout attempts to give the Blue Jackets a 5-4 win. He is the first goalie to get his first NHL win in a game he entered after regulation. Starter Curtis McElhinney was injured with 4:05 left in overtime when, with no one around him and the puck out of the zone, he slipped and landed awkwardly on his left leg. Forsberg, who was an emergency recall Saturday when Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) was placed back on injured reserve, made his sixth NHL appearance. Not only did Forsberg come in cold, but he almost immediately had to face a Capitals power play that was No. 2 in the NHL and scored on its first two chances Saturday. Neither Bobrovsky nor McElhinney will be available Tuesday when the Blue Jackets host the Minnesota Wild. Rookie Joonas Korpisalo will be recalled from Lake Erie for the second time this season. Forsberg, a seventh-round pick (No. 188) in the 2011 NHL Draft, made four saves during the penalty kill, including denying Alex Ovechkin with a helmet save and a diving stop of Niklas Backstrom. Ryan Johansen scored the deciding goal for Columbus, while Brandon Dubinsky also scored for in the shootout. After T.J. Oshie scored in the bottom of the first round for Washington, Forsberg stopped Evgeny Kuznetsov and Nicklas Backstrom. The Capitals lost two in a row for the first time this season, following a nine-game winning streak. Brandon Saad and Jack Johnson each scored two goals for the Blue Jackets. Johnson assisted on Saad's goal with 1:08 left in the third period that tied the game 4-4. Saad's 16th was a backhand to the short side of goalie Braden Holtby after the Blue Jackets pulled McElhinney for an extra attacker. Oshie, Jason Chimera, Marcus Johansson and Evgeny Kuznetsov scored for Washington.
