Philadelphia @ NY Islanders - Postponed
The game between the Flyers and Islanders at Barclays Center, NHL Game No. 716, was postponed due to the severe snowstorm impacting the metro New York area. A makeup date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed.
Columbus @ Boston 2-3 SO
The Bruins scored twice in the opening 3:34 of the second period to take a 2-0 lead. Marchand scored off a feed from Spooner 32 seconds into the period for a 1-0 lead. Then David Pastrnak cashed in on his own drive to the net after a rebound of a David Krejci shot to double Boston's lead at 3:34. The Blue Jackets stormed back starting with Prout's goal at 6:58. After a faceoff win, the puck was moved around to Prout, who skated to the goal line and beat Gustavsson to the short side with a sharp-angled wrist shot to cut the lead to 2-1. It was Prout's first goal in 108 games dating to March 15, 2014. Rychel's goal at 10:08 tied it 2-2. After the Blue Jackets pressured the Bruins for about a minute, Rychel redirected Justin Falk's wrist shot from the top of the left circle past Gustavsson. Ryan Spooner and Torey Krug scored in the shootout to help the Bruins win. The Blue Jackets played without coach John Tortorella, who did not make the trip after he broke two ribs in an on-ice collision at practice in Columbus on Friday.
Montreal @ Toronto 3-2 SO
The Canadiens took a 1-0 lead when David Desharnais scored at 1:41 of the first period. He took a pass at the side of the net, and with Maple Leafs goalie James Reimer caught flat-footed, was able to snap a quick shot high stick-side.
Montreal made it 2-0 at 18:33 when Tomas Fleischmann snapped a shot from the slot. The Canadiens thought they took a 3-0 lead at 7:43 of the second period when Daniel Carr, called up from St. John’s of the American Hockey League, took a shot that Reimer caught in his glove. It looked like he may have put it into the net, but the NHL Situation Room reviewed the play and ruled the puck did not cross the goal line. Toronto center Nazem Kadri made it 2-1 at 8:14 when he accepted a pinpoint backhand pass from Morgan Rielly in the slot.
The Maple Leafs tied it 2-2 at 4:37 of the third period when Condon stopped Holland’s wrist shot only to have Joffrey Lupul tap home the rebound from the top of the crease. It was Lupul’s 11th goal of the season, second in the past three games, after going 11 games without scoring. Reimer kept it tied when he stopped Brendan Gallagher on a breakaway at 7:39. Gallagher deked to his backhand, but Reimer stayed with him all the way. Gallagher later got the puck off a faceoff in the Toronto zone, turned and took a shot that hit the post and crawled along the goal line. In the shootout, the Canadiens’ first two shooters, Alex Galchenyuk and Brian Flynn, each took a shot that Reimer bobbled and dropped on the goal line. Lars Eller and Max Pacioretty scored for Montreal in the shootout; Peter Holland scored for Toronto on the first attempt.
Anaheim @ Detroit 4-3
Helm gave Detroit a 1-0 lead 1:10 into the game when he took Smith's pass off the boards for a breakaway. Helm made a move and slid a forehand shot past Gibson for his first goal in 19 games. Kesler, who is from the Detroit suburb of Livonia, Mich., tied the game 1-1 at 7:26 when he took a pass from Silfverberg in the slot and beat Howard. Perry gave Anaheim a 2-1 lead with 1:24 left in the first period. He capitalized on a 2-on-1 rush by taking a pass from Rakell in the slot and flipped a backhand shot past Howard. Jurco tied the game 9:21 into the second period when he put a backhand shot under the crossbar to complete a 3-on-2 rush. It was Jurco's first goal in 18 games. Gibson denied Mike Green on a breakaway with five minutes left in the second period to keep the game tied 2-2. Perry's second goal of the game gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead 2:28 into the third period when he swept a forehand shot past Howard. Kesler's second goal of the game, 6:42 into the third period, made it 4-2. He scored on a wrist shot from right circle after carrying the puck from the neutral zone. It was Kesler's 10th goal of the season. DeKeyser scored with Howard pulled for the extra attacker with 1:16 left on a slap shot from the point. It was his fifth goal. Left wing Ryan Garbutt made his debut with Anaheim after being acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday for Jiri Sekac.
Tampa Bay @ Florida 2-5
Huberdeau opened the scoring at 8:50, 30 seconds after Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop stopped him on a breakaway. After taking a backhand pass from Aleksander Barkov at the top of the left circle, Huberdeau stickhandled back and forth before putting a wrist shot over Bishop's glove. Bjugstad's goal at 12:36 ended an 0-for-28 drought for the Florida power play. He scored with one second left on the man-advantage, when he redirected Huberdeau's backhand pass from across the crease. Reilly Smith and Vincent Trocheck scored in a span of 1:37. Smith scored for the third straight game when he made it 3-0 at 15:56. His pass across the front of the net hit Victor Hedman's skate and went into the net. Smith tied Jaromir Jagr for the Panthers lead with 15 goals. Trocheck made it 4-0 at 17:33 when he played a loose puck in front of the net, clashing sticks with Matthew Carle. The puck floated into the air and over Bishop's shoulder.
Bishop, who allowed two goals in his past three starts, was replaced by backup Andrei Vasilevskiy to start the third period after allowing four goals on 30 shots.
Luongo, starting on back-to-back nights for the first time this season, made 38 saves. He extended his shutout streak to 127:09 before Hedman scored a power-play goal, his fourth of the season, at 5:39 of the third period. With a faceoff in the Florida zone and Tampa Bay trailing 4-1, Lightning coach Jon Cooper pulled Vasilevskiy for an extra attacker at 9:33 of the third period. Chicago coach Joel Quenneville used the same strategy with more than eight minutes left Friday. Brian Campbell scored an empty-net goal, his fourth of the season, with 4:08 left. J.T. Brown scored with 1:29 left.
Los Angeles @ Phoenix 2-3
Milan Lucic was ejected 6:55 into the third period after he was called for roughing against Kevin Connauton. Connauton slashed Lucic on his left hand around the net with Los Angeles on the power play. When play was whistled down a few seconds later, Lucic charged Connauton and sent him to the ice with a gloved right hand to the head. Lucic said he thought his hand was broken by the slash after it went numb, but X-rays were negative. Coyotes took a 1-0 lead on Doan's goal. Shortly after Christian Ehrhoff's holding penalty expired, Antoine Vermette tried to set up Tobias Rieder in the slot, but the pass came in too hot, and Rieder opted to send a touch pass back to Michael Stone at the right point. Stone's end-over-end shot hit Doan in the chest and found the net at 13:43. The Kings answered with a strong start to the second period, when they had seven shots in the first seven minutes and tied the game on a strange play.
Domingue played the puck behind the net and was hit by Tanner Pearson as he attempted a pass. Domingue hit the ice belly-first, and his stick slid out near center ice. Believing he had been interfered with on the play, Domingue took off his mask, but play continued, and Shore put his third goal into the vacated net at 6:53. The Coyotes got the goal back on the power play after Luke Schenn was called for hooking. Mikkel Boedker made a nice play to keep the puck in at the line, and Max Domi patiently waited for an opening before putting a saucer pass across the slot that Ekman-Larsson settled before putting a wrist shot past Quick at 9:19 of the second. The Kings tied the game with 3:05 left in the second. Jeff Carter gained possession, took a return pass from Schenn and beat Domingue with a shot that hit the far post. The puck bounced right to Brown, who slid in his first goal and first point in 11 games.
Nashville @ Edmonton 4-1
Leon Draisaitl scored 11:54 into the first period to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead. Draisaitl took the puck wide against Shea Weber down the left wing, cut to the front of the net and lifted a backhand over Rinne's shoulder for his 12th goal of the season. Ekholm tied the game at 13:36 on a scramble in front of the Oilers' net. He was able to squeeze a shot through traffic past Talbot after collecting the puck in the slot. Ekholm gave the Predators a 2-1 lead at 1:47 of the second period with a strange power-play goal. His shot hit Andrej Sekera in the head, then fell into Talbot's equipment. Not knowing where the puck was, Talbot dropped to his knees and the puck rolled out of his left pad and bounced into the net. Sekera came close to tying the game late in the second period when he controlled the puck in the slot on a scramble in front of the Predators' net. He got his shot over a sprawling Rinne but hit the crossbar. Fisher extended the Predators' lead to 3-1 at 52 seconds of the third period, converting a centering pass out of the corner from Weber. Forsberg scored into an empty net with 36 seconds remaining.
