Boston @ NY Rangers 1-2
Jesper Fast's deflection goal from in front of the net with 1:42 remaining in the third period lifted the Rangers to a 2-1 win. Keith Yandle's knuckling point shot appeared to be heading wide of the Boston net when Fast deflected the puck down and past goalie Tuukka Rask for his seventh goal and second game-winner of the season. The play that led to Brassard's game-tying goal started with a pinch down the left-wing wall by Ryan McDonagh, who won a puck battle against David Pastrnak to get it down into the corner. Mats Zuccarello got to the puck, cut to the net and found Brassard at the right post for a one-timer that he stuffed into the back of the net. Lundqvist preserved the tie with a right-leg save on Max Talbot from the left side at 2:32. He flung his leg in the air to stop Talbot's shot. Lundqvist was beaten three times in the first two periods, but Boston had only one goal because Ryan Spooner (15:38 of the first period) and Brett Connolly (19:04 of the second) each had a shot hit off the post. The only one that got past Lundqvist and into the net came on an uncontested and unscreened 38-foot wrist shot by Hayes at 9:04 of the second period.
Florida @ Vancouver 2-3 OT
Jussi Jokinen opened the scoring 1:20 into the game, and Huberdeau doubled the lead with 33 seconds left in the first period. Daniel Sedin scored his first goal of the night at 5:41 of the second period, and Jake Virtanen scored his second goal of the season at 17:22 of the third to tie it. Less than 30 seconds after Vancouver goalie Jacob Markstrom robbed Steven Kampfer on a 3-on-1 rush, the puck bounced to Virtanen, who was playing his second game after being loaned to Canada for the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship, and he chipped it by Brian Campbell before snapping it past Luongo's left arm from in close. With Jaromir Jagr in the penalty box for hooking, Sedin beat Luongo with a wrist shot high on the glove side from between the top of the faceoff circles for his second of the night, 19th of the season and 346th of his NHL career, 2:21 into the extra period to tie Markus Naslund for the most goals in Canucks history (346). The Canucks ended the first period down 2-0 after Huberdeau scored with 32.3 seconds remaining. Jagr carried the puck into the zone and his cross-ice feed deflected off Aleksander Barkov's stick right to Huberdeau cutting through the slot for a quick shot past Markstrom's glove.
Detroit @ Los Angeles 2-4
Anze Kopitar had a goal and three assists and Alec Martinez scored a power-play goal 1:28 into the third period to help the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-2 win. Martinez one-timed a pass from Drew Doughty that went through an attempted block by Riley Sheahan and beat Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard five-hole. Kopitar set up the play with a carry into the zone and Dwight King scored an empty-net goal. Los Angeles controlled the second and did not allow a shot for the first 13:48. It got rewarded on the power play when Kopitar won a faceoff, took a return pass from Jake Muzzin and beat Howard with a high wrist shot to tie 2-2 at 16:28. Detroit got goals from Alexey Marchenko and Tomas Tatar within 2:27 to take a 2-1 lead into first intermission. Marchenko grabbed a loose puck that eluded Milan Lucic and scored on a wrist shot in traffic at 18:16 for his first goal this season. Tatar deflected Darren Helm's shot at 15:49 after Pavel Datsyuk set up Helm with a backhand cross-ice pass. Tyler Toffoli scored 2:49 into the game. He tapped in a pass from Kopitar, who outwaited Mike Green on a 2-on-1. It gave Toffoli consecutive 20-goal seasons.
