NY Islanders @ Buffalo 2-1
Nielsen made it 1-0 at 9:35 of the second period with a power-play goal. With  Josh Gorges off on a holding penalty, Nielsen poked a loose puck in the crease from a Tavares shot past Ullmark. Bylsma challenged the goal saying Ullmark was interfered with prior to the puck going in. After review, the referee confirmed no goaltender interference occurred before the puck crossed the goal line. Kulemin gave the Islanders a 2-0 lead with his fifth goal of the season when he received a pass from Okposo in front of the net and took a wrist shot that got past Ullmark. It was Kulemin’s third straight game with a goal. Ryan O’Reilly made it 2-1 with a power-play goal with 8:42 left in the third period. O’Reilly received a cross-zone pass from Jack Eichel and took a wrist shot that beat Greiss for his 15th goal.
Washington @ Carolina 2-4
Eric Staal scored 51 seconds into the third period to break a 1-1 tie, and Jeff Skinner scored 4:25 later. Staal was credited with his eighth goal after a video review showed his one-timer from the slot completely crossed the goal line after Grubauer got a piece of his shot. Skinner gave Carolina a two-goal lead at 5:16 of the third period when he converted a cross-crease feed from Riley Nash, who forced a turnover behind the Capitals net, for his 15th goal. That became the game-winner when Ovechkin beat Lack from the right circle with 5:44 remaining for his Capitals-leading 21st goal. Andrej Nestrasil shot the puck the length of the ice into an empty net with 17.8 seconds remaining. The Hurricanes opened the scoring 7:48 into the second period. Di Giuseppe capped a 3-on-2 rush when he one-timed Joakim Nordstrom's pass from the left-wing boards to the slot past Grubauer for his third of the season. Backstrom tied the game at 9:49. He took a pass from Karl Alzner in his own zone, eased his way through center ice during a Carolina line change and worked his way into the high slot before snapping a screened shot that beat Lack cleanly. It was the 11th goal for Backstrom, who played one night after leaving Washington's 5-2 home victory against the Buffalo Sabres with an upper-body injury. Lack kept the Capitals from taking the lead when he stopped Brooks Laich twice from the slot with 4:41 remaining in the period. Carolina had the better chances during a scoreless first period. Grubauer stopped Jaccob Slavin on a 2-on-1 rush and again on the rebound 8:34 into the game, and Jordan Staal hit the crossbar on a power-play one-timer from the left circle with a little more than three minutes remaining.
Los Angeles @ Calgary 4-1
Gaborik scored 11:04 into the first period to put the Kings up 1-0. Off the rush, Gaborik cut into the slot and sent a quick shot along the ice that beat Calgary goaltender Karri Ramo to the far side. Quick made an outstretched toe save 33 seconds into the game to keep the Flames from an early lead. Sam Bennett had a breakaway on the opening shift but couldn't beat the Quick with a deke. Los Angeles stretched the lead to 3-0 early in the second period. Tyler Toffoli's initial shot and rebound attempt by Anze Kopitar were stopped by Ramo, but Lucic poked the puck over the goal line on the Kings' third try 1:46 into the period.

The goal ended a 10-game scoreless drought for Lucic. Andreoff ended his 10-game drought 1:18 later, one-timing a pass by Michael Mersch from below the goal line between Ramo's legs. With room to Quick's left, TJ Brodie one-timed a pass from David Jones, but Lucic got his stick in the way to deflect the puck wide with 2:36 remaining in the period to keep Calgary scoreless. Giordano scored 3:36 into the third period when his shot from the point deflected off the stick of Drew Doughty and over Quick's glove to make it 3-1. Quick stopped Dougie Hamilton cutting into the slot at 8:04 and made a glove save off Micheal Ferland's wrist shot from the slot at 8:46. Joe Colborne hit the post on a power play at 14:35. Pearson scored into an empty net with 43.9 seconds remaining.

Anaheim @ Edmonton 1-0
